The saguaro, Carnegia gigantea is a cactus from the Arizona Sonora Desert. Is considered the king of the cactus, grows slowly, could live 200 years, can grow to 15 meters and weigh up to 10 tons. It is an example of survival in difficult conditions, collects the low rainwater and 80% of its weight is water. Its white flowers bloom only at night to give a red fruit that comes to produce 40 million seeds. The fruits and seeds are food for coyotes, squirrels, mice and bats. People use it to prepare flour, jam and syrup.
