The shaft of the Decazeville coalmines (Aveyron - France), the only to have been kept. A shaft is a surface testimony of a mine pit. It served to the miner transportation to the different mining levels of an underground mine. Le chevalement de la mine de charbon de Decazeville (puits central de Lacaze), le seul à avoir été conservé. Un chevalement est un témoin de surface d'un puits de mine. Il servait au transport des mineurs aux différents étages d'extraction d'une mine souterraine.
