RMH2D2R2–Sir Joseph Paxton (1803 – 1865) was an English gardener, architect and Member of Parliament, who designed the gardens and castle in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. Worked on Chatsworth House, but is probably best known for designing the Crystal Palace. He also cultivated the Cavendish banana, the most consumed banana in the western world.

RFPBT5JD–This illustration dates to the 1870s and shows the Crystal Palace at Sydenham Hill, a wealthy suburb in the area of London. It was an enormous glass and iron structure that was built in 1851 for the Great Exhibition held in 1851 in Hyde Park in London. The Exhibition was Prince Albert's idea to showcase the industrial achievements of Great Britain. Other countries, including the United States, Russia, and Egypt exhibited as well. RM2GBRRGX–A late 19th century view of an angler by the River Blackwater in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. Behind is the Cavendish Bridge, aka Lismore Bridge built in 1858. Towering above both is Lismore Castle, home of the Duke of Devonshire. It was largely re-built for William George Spencer Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire, in the Gothic style by the architect William Atkinson from 1812 to 1822. In 1850 the 6th Duke engaged his architect Sir Joseph Paxton, the designer of The Crystal Palace, to carry out improvements and additions to the castle.
