collections have evolved naturally, gradually 

developing into something quite special with 

the resulting benefit that an individual 

bathroom can be styled around any combination of 

items, even just one or two.

Bastide is predominantly 

handcrafted from 

indigenous French oak 

using traditional joinery 

techniques by our sister 

company in France. 

Bastide and bathrooms 

were made for each other. 

The perfect combination of 

free-standing style and 

individuality that looks so 

naturally in place in a 

bathroom. Genuine glazed 

lavastone worktops on 

washstands, hand-built 

cabinets, it’s like starting 

each day in la belle France.

Glazed Lavastone 

Bastide washstands feature 

exclusive, custom made 

basins and worktops of 

glazed lavastone. This 

extraordinarily dense, 

stable and durable natural 

stone is quarried in the 

volcanic mountains of the 

Massif Central near the 

small town of Volvic, 

famous for its natural 

spring waters. 

Blocks straight from the 

mountain are cut, formed 

and glazed five times with 

a special silica glaze which 

bonds to the lavastone to 

produce a delightful 

crackle glaze finish on the 

Ivory worktop. A matt 

Graphite glaze finish is 

also available. 

NOTES 

Bastide painted furniture is 

finished using a variety of 

sanding and lacquering 

techniques and is finally 

varnished in a highly durable 

polyurethane. During the 

finishing process ageing 

techniques are used to give the 

pieces a distressed appearance. 

Due to the handcrafted finish 

the appearance may vary slightly 

from piece to piece. 

Oak used in making the Bastide 

bathroom furniture will naturally 

exhibit colour and tonal variation 

and may contain some knots.

made specifically to our customers’ requirements. All individual elements are fashioned from raw slabs of pre-cut stone, considerable variation 

of colour and marking should be expected. In particular, Nero and Classico will exhibit widely varying degrees of dramatic veining but even the 

more regular and crystaline Blanco will show colour tones from pure whites to soft greys.

We love baths. In fact, they’ve become a bit of a 

speciality. Big, deep, proper sized, built-in and 

freestanding tubs. Showers are wonderful of course 

as a great start to a busy day, but when it’s over, what 

could be more relaxing than the luxury of a good, 

long, hot soak.

Le Bain de Bateau 

This is the real thing – the 

classic, Fired Earth cast iron 

bath. As far as we know, 

this is now the only bath 

of its type in the world 

that is enamelled using the 

traditional vitreous dry fit 

process which makes the 

enamel three times thicker 

and far harder than the 

more modern method of 

wet coated enamel. 

To achieve the hot 

lacquered Polished Finish (a) 

the bath is polished down 

over two days using finer 

and finer grades of sanding 

pads until it shines like 

silver and then sealed with 

a water resistant lacquer - 

the ultimate cast iron bath. 

For those who like colour in 

their bathroom the Factory 

Finished bateau - available 

in five colours - is first 

sanded down, smoothed 

and primed, then painted 

again and sealed with a 

water resistant lacquer.

carefully selected pigments, minerals and 

resins specifically chosen for their 

qualities of opacity, density, light fastness

Our emulsion is blended to produce a flat 

surface, which is wonderfully soft to the 

touch and that has exceptional coverage.

Fine Quality Paint 

Fired Earth has been developing high quality 

paint collections for more than 10 years. 

Our unrivalled colour palette has been 

created drawing upon this expertise and in 

close collaboration with Kevin McCloud, a 

leading authority on paint and colour. 

Our paint is manufactured in the UK to the 

highest quality standard, BS EN ISO 

9001:2000. 

Fired Earth paint is hardwearing, offers 

exceptional coverage and is formulated 

with the environment firmly in mind. 

The vast majority of the paints we sell are 

categorised as Minimal solvent or VOC 

content (Volatile Organic Compounds), which 

means it is under 0.3%. Some of the stronger 

colours may contain slightly more VOCs, 

falling into the Low designation of 0.3-7.99%.

Wood Flooring 

There's no doubt wood floors have never 

been so popular. Whatever the influences, 

improved heating systems, climate change 

maybe, awareness of dust allergies, the 

country has once again rediscovered what 

Scandinavians and Americans have known 

all along. Wood flooring is warm, clean, 

durable and beautiful – and as you would 

expect from Fired Earth, is sourced from 

accredited sustainable forests. 

Classic Oak Flooring 

The historical value of Oak is a testament to 

its enduring popularity and durability. Oak 

wood flooring brings warmth, comfort and 

character straight to the heart of any room. 

Our Classic range is available in three grades; 

Select - Boards are selected for their 

unblemished quality 

Nature - Boards with a more distinctive 

grained and woody appearance 

Rustic - Boards are characteristically 

marked, making a virtue of oak’s gnarled 

and natural formations 

Each grade is available either as a solid or 

engineered board in a selection of widths, 

presealed with master oil or brushed and 

unsealed. The unsealed boards may then be 

finished using any of our 6 coloured oils or 

our master oil. 

For those wanting a highly characterful 

finish, the base price Character Oak (shown 

opposite) is available as a solid board 

presealed with master oil. 

Hardwood Flooring Selection 

Seasoned, traditional North American solid 

hardwood in cherry, maple and walnut. In a 

choice of two grades; Select, clean with 

minimal knots and lightly grained. Nature, 

more randomly and individually marked.

Handwoven Rugs 

Each Tribal rug that we have instore is 

unique, no two are ever the same in colour 

or design, so a store visit is crucial. A great 

deal of care and time is invested in the 

weaving of each rug to express individuality 

through design - they are as much a work 

of art as they are a floor covering. The rugs 

are woven by nomadic tribes as a 

traditional pastime and integral part 

of nomadic existence.

Services 

A simple principle but as true as ever - ‘if a 

job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well’ - 

even more so when expressed in connection 

with Fired Earth. 

For what would be the point of opting for 

such a high level of product quality only to 

find that the application of it, the fit and 

finish, was sub-standard. 

Which is why we established the Fired Earth 

Guild of Installers, a national group of skilled 

craftspersons specially selected to work in 

partnership with our stores to ensure that 

Fired Earth quality is maintained throughout. 

All work undertaken by Fired Earth Guild 

members is warranted for 12 months. 

Tile Installation Service 

We operate a national tiling service 

(mainland UK) for the fixing of both floor 

and wall tiles. We will be happy to provide 

you with a cost estimate without obligation 

for the work you are undertaking. Our stores 

will explain the procedure for obtaining an 

estimate, alternatively, please telephone 

Installations on 01295 814310. 

In using the Fired Earth Tile Installation 

Service we will ensure that you order the 

correct type and quantity of tiles, adhesive, 

grout and finishing products. Our 

experienced tilers will ensure the correct 

work is carried out. 

Wood Flooring 

Installation Service 

Once you have selected a wood floor with 

the help of our store assistant, for a fee you 

will receive a site survey from a member of 

our Wood Installation Guild. The fee for the 

Technical Site Survey is redeemed against 

your installation order. The site will be 

checked for suitability, including an 

appropriate moisture check, as well as 

assessing suitable fixing materials and the 

quantities verified. After this you will receive 

free estimates for all the necessary materials 

and for installation. On acceptance of these 

estimates a date will be arranged with the 

Guild Member for fitting. 

Sample Service 

Samples can be supplied by your local store. 

If you are unable to visit a store, we are 

happy to send out samples by parcel post. 

Tile samples - We offer whole tiles charged 

at the normal retail price. 

Paint samples - We offer emulsion sample 

pots in all colours. 

Wood samples - We offer cut samples for a 

small charge. 

Kitchen furniture samples - We offer colour 

samples for a small charge. 

All samples (except paint) are refundable 

upon return within four weeks of purchase. 

Installation Guides 

We offer installation guides for the 

following: Wall Tiling, Floor Tiling, Wood 

Flooring, Underfloor Heating and 

Waterproofing Showers and Bathrooms.

commencement of installation. 

Home Deliveries 

We offer a delivery service and operate a 

scale of modest charges, please see our price 

list for details. Alternatively, you can collect 

your order from our Adderbury facility by 

prior arrangement, please call 01295 814399. 

There will be additional charges for deliveries 

off the UK mainland and the Scottish 

Highlands; for express deliveries; and special 

deliveries, for example, deliveries above first 

floor or requiring a small van for access. 

All orders are double-checked to ensure they 

leave our warehouse in good condition. 

Please check goods as soon as the order is 

delivered. We do not initiate replacement 

orders, for damaged or incorrect deliveries, 

that have not been notified to us within 7 

days of receipt. 

The Installation Service is currently not 

available from our Dun Laoghaire store.

represents the heart and soul of Fired Earth. 

The information contained within it is, to 

the best of our knowledge, accurate at the 

time of going to press. We do however 

reserve the right to introduce changes and

Similarly, whilst every attempt has been 

made to choose photographs which 

faithfully portray the product, variations in
