Cresyl Violet acetate is used in Nissl staining of brain paraffin and spinal cord section. Cresyl Violet acetate is also certified for use to stain mast cell and cartilage granules. Cresyl Violet acetate has allowed the visualization of the arterial blood supply to the central hemispheres when dissolved in isotonic saline and DMSO. Cresyl Violet acetate is also useful to measure pyruvate dehydrogenase complex activity when its acetylation is coupled with acetyl-CoA production.

Can you provide the protocol that how to make a proper solution for nissl staining of brain tissue?

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we are unable to provide a protocol for how to prepare a proper solution of Cresyl Violet acetate specifically for staining brain tissue. This biochemical is soluble in water (1 mg/ml), and ethanol (1%). It is insoluble in acetone.
