GMA Sparkle Artist Mr. Kimson Tan paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig yesterday, 18 October 2023 at the Philippine Embassy.
Mr. Tan is currently in Singapore for an ongoing shoot of a joint National Heritage Board and Singapore Tourism Board commissioned film entitled “King of Hawkers” scheduled to be released in Singapore during Chinese New Year in 2024.
Mr. Tan is the film’s only Filipino actor among its Singaporean and Hong Kong stars.
“King of Hawkers” is a tribute to and spotlights Singapore’s vibrant hawker culture, narrating a tale of a group of hawkers who unite to protect their businesses and treasured recipes against a multinational corporation.
In 2020, Singapore’s hawker culture, an integral part of the way of life for Singaporeans, was inscribed in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. (END)
