Barry 76, of Goldmont dlod Friday, March 19, 1999, at the Ashevllle Health Care Center. A native of Hornell, N.Y., he had lived most of his life in Rockingham before moving to Black Mountain In 1961.

He was son of the late Harry and Grace Eldrldge Barry. Mr. Barry owned and operated the Black Mountain Texaco and was an avid sportsman, in which he raced boats and cars at tracks Including the Ashevllle Motor Speedway, Surviving are his wife, Olean Shaw Barry; a daughter, Connie Weaver of Black Mountain; a son, Chester Barry of Black Mountain; a sister, Wanita Chavis of Rockingham; four grandchildren, Clifford Barry, Chert Sherrill, Wendy Moore and Stacy Weaver; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.

Burse, 74, of Brushy Creek Road, Spruce Pine, died Friday, March 19, 1999, in a Spruce Pine hospital. A native of Mitchell County, he was SUE ELLEN CABE SYLVA Sue Ellen Cabe, 79. of Savannah community, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Mountain Trace Nursing Center after a period of declining health. A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late L.B. and Ethel Cabe.

She retired with Enka as a supervisor. Surviving are a sister, Carrie Poss of Sytva; four nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Wesleyanna United Methodist Church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Jeff Hassell officiating.

Burial will be In Wesleyanna United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the services at the church. She was a native of Jackson County, a daughter of the late David C. and Elizabeth "Beth" Nicholson Bryson. She was a homemaker and a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church, where she was a former secretarytreasurer and choir member for 47 years. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Fred A. Fox; three daughters, Marlene Williams and Ruby Henry, both of Franklin and Jewel Young of Woodstock, a son, the Rev.

Ray Fox of Bryson City; 12 grandchildren and 1 1 great-grandchildren. She was preceded In death by a sister, Inez Fox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mountain Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Pressley officiating.

A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late George Al- and Loduska Bice Doan. She was of the Baptist faith. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Vlrgle Mae Swann, Ida Ramsey, Ollie Brown, Estle Walker and Nel- tie Harris; and brothers, Dock Doan, Jess Doan, Carl Doan and Esley Doan. She was the wife of the late Gus C.

FLETCHER The Rev. Darius Z. Brevard 75, of Fletcher, went to walk with his Lord Friday morning, March 19, 1999, following a period of declining health. He was the son of the late Zeb and Lela Corn Brevard and was a lifelong resident of Henderson County. He retired In 1979 after 19 years with Ger-ber Foods.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church. He was also a skilled carpenter, He was ordained as a minister at Mt, View Baptist Church In 1958. He was a devoted father and papaw to his grandchildren as well as other children In the extended family. He was dearly loved by all who knew him. Survivors Include his loving wife of 84 years, Celia G.

Brevard; daughters, Joyce Bailey and husband Gene of Mt. Home and Barbara Moore and husband Dennis of Fletcher, a son, Darius Zeb Brevard and wife Robin of Hamilton, two sisters and a brother, Clara Worsham, Mae Brevard and Bob Brevard, all of Henderson-ville; four granddaughters, Denise Moore Gilbert and husband Bryan of Fletcher, Ashley and Jessica Brevard of Hamilton, and Sarah Jeffe of Ohio; two grandsons, Marshall Bailey of Mt. He was a native of Macon County, a son of Eileen Prince Chastain of Highlands and the late Robert Hampton Chastain. He was an assembly worker at the Cashiers Plastic Plant. He was a Methodist by faith.

He Is survived by a sister, Kathryn Forrester of Highlands; two brothers, Neal Chastain of South Carolina and Jack Patterson of Greenville, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. A native of Henderson County, he had lived In Transylvania County for the last 10 years. He was a son of Minnie Clayton of Hendersonville and the late Norman Ray Clayton. He was a graduate of West Henderson High School and was a plater with Ashevllle Metal Finishing for the last five years.

He was a member of the Boyls-ton Baptist Church and was an avid hunter. Surviving, In addition to his mother, are his wife, Wendy Clayton; a son, Colby Clayton; two daughters, Hope and Lacey Clayton, all of the home; two brothers, Morris Clayton of Pleasant Grove and Randy Clayton and his wife Trish of Mills River; a sister, Nor- ma Wright and her husband Richard of Yancey County; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sharon and Don Messer; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Robin and Jeff Barnett; a sister-in-law, Paula Messer; brother-in-law, Jody Messer, all of Pisgah Forest; and two nieces, Codl and Hannah Barnett. A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of Francis Marion Sawyer and Lillie Mae Segal. She spent her early years in Spartanburg, S.C., but lived most of her life in Henderson County, with brief periods of residence in Greensboro and Cary. Her husband, Carl William Drake, preceded her In death.

Survivors include a beloved sister, Flora Lee Hudglns of Hendersonville; eons, Otis M. Drake of Brevard and Bin C. Drake of Cary; daughter-in-law, Linda Lockaby Drake of Cary, three grandchildren, David Drake and wife Jill of Jupiter, Maria Stone and husband Eddie of Cary and Allsa Drake of Durham; and four greatgrandchildren, Sawyer and Ethan Stone of Cary and Hannah and Madeline Drake of Jupiter, Fla. She was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. By her lifelong words and actions, Daisy demonstrated a strong belief In the importance ol higher education.

In recognition of her support of higher education, a scholarship in her name is being permanently endowed at N.Ci State University.
