India vs. Bangladesh Football Match Live: After a 5-1 defeat to hosts China, Sunil Chhetri-led Indian men’s football team will look to get their campaign in Asian Games back on track as they face Bangladesh in their second group game. Igor Stimac’s men have hardly had an ideal preparation for the Asian Games, with Indian Super League (ISL) clubs unwilling to release players outside the FIFA window, the team didn’t get a single training session before their defeat against China.
Rahul KP scored the equaliser against China shortly before halftime in the first game but since the players landed in the host nation shortly before their game, the players’ fitness wasn’t up to the mark. It was visible on the field as China thrashed four goals in the second half against a hapless Indian side reeling with fatigue.
At one point in the game, coach Stimac had no outfield players available to make more substitutions but the Indian team will no doubt be strengthened by the additions of the likes of Chinglensena Singh, Ankit Jadhav and Narender Gahlot.
Sunil Chhetri is expected to lead the line yet again against a Bangladesh side which will give India a realistic chance of finishing second in the group and advancing into the knockouts.
The fixture against Bangladesh becomes a do-or-die game for the Blue Tigers after their hefty loss to China, since anything less than a win would make India’s fate out of their hands.
While there were plenty of promising signs against China, including the performances of Gurmeet Singh, and Bryce Miranda the fitness of many key players will be a concern. It remains to be seen whether the players can complete the full ninety minutes having had a recovery session in their hotel.
The Bengal Tigers are also in a situation similar to India having lost their previous game to Myanmar 0-1. The match will be played at Xiaoshan Sports Center Stadium in Hangzhou, China, on September 21st from 01:30 PM IST onwards.

That’s it, first roll of the dice from Igor Stimac as Rohit Danu is coming off, Gurkeet Singh, Amarjit Singh is replaced by Samuel. The changes happen just as Bangladesh almost exploited India’s defence as Dheeraj Singh somehow clears the danger.
Abdul Rabeeh feeds Rahul KP again, the winger crosses but Mitul takes control of the ball, before it could reach Sunil Chhetri. Early positive signs from India but they need to make these half chances count. Meanwhile India concede a corner after Lalchungnunga blocks a shot.
Rahul KP misses a glorious chance to head the ball into the goal, instead of heading into the goal his header deflects back to Abdul Rabeeh, who then fires wide of the mark. India start positive but need to keep it inside the frame, good attacking intent.
Both teams in their huddles, India need to improve in attack. Bangladesh get us underway in the second half.
India are currently third place at half-time, they could drop to fourth place if it ends 0-0 because of their goal difference which is -4 currently if they pick up a point from this game. A few goals needed today at all costs.
Plenty needs to improve for India, Sunil Chhetri hasn’t been fed the balls, India struggling in attack and they need to get better to get a win today against Bangladesh to have a chance of progressing into the next round. Igor Stimac will perhaps talk about that in his half time team talk, more urgency needed from India.
India fail to score after three back to back attacks from India, Mitul makes two excellent stops first to deny Chettri, and then he keeps a headed effort from Rahul KP on goal. Bangladesh somehow keep India at bay, that’s more like it from the Blue Tigers.
