From Local 3 News: Welltok, Inc. shared a data breach notice that may affect some people’s private information, including CHI Memorial patients.
Welltok is a company that provides a healthcare consumer platform. The company’s website says Welltok helps employers and providers connect users with personalized health improvement resources.
One of Welltok’s systems in the MOVEit Transfer tool. According to the data breach notice, Welltok learned this server was potentially compromised on July 26, 2023.
The company investigated the issue with the assistance of cybersecurity specialists. The Welltok notice says they found unauthorized access to the MOVEit Transfer server happened on May 30, 2023. Some people’s personal data was on the server when the breach occurred. That data may include names, contact information, Social Security Numbers, Medicare/Medicaid ID Numbers, health insurance information, and prescription names.
Welltok mailed a notice to people whose information may have been in the affected files. If you did not receive a letter, but want to make sure you aren’t affected you can call Welltok’s assistance line 800-628-2141.
Welltok is offering credit monitoring and identity protection services to those impacted by this event. The company is also reviewing and enhancing its data privacy procedures.
Welltok encourages consumers to keep a look out for signs of identity theft and fraud. You can do this by frequently reviewing your accounts and monitoring your free credit reports for suspicious activity.
