The car is my wife’s DD. While I know it’s not a Prius, I’d still like to keep it somewhat practical. However, 235s on the stock 18s just sounds insane to me for a car with over 400 HP (2017 GT, non PP, obviously.) We’re looking at the SVE Series 2 in bronze, which only seems to come in 20”. Again, I know this isn’t the practical choice, but aesthetically, we like the staggered look. I’ve never put aftermarket wheels on anything before, so I don’t really know what all of my concerns should be, but from what I’ve read here, I think they should fit without problems with 275s and 255s. Am I looking at a big hit in ride quality going to a bigger wheel with narrower sidewalls? With these particular wheels, will everything bolt up with no need to change any other hardware or use spacers? Will this change the ride height significantly? Are there tires in these sizes that I can get decent life out of while still being safe for her in cold and rain? Are there any other major concerns I should have?

no concerns, they should be good. im not sure on that brand of tire but should be at least equal to the stock traction. you can run wider tires than that. you can just get the wheels separate and but a tire of your choice.

Yeah, I need to do more research on tires. I haven’t bought a performance tire since high school and the 10k mike lifespan of those won’t do for this application. People here seem to be happy with the quality of their SVE wheels. Is that pretty much universal across their line or is that limited to certain models?

Tires depend on goals. my personal favorite tires are the michelin PS4S. I have never heard any complaints on the SVE wheel quality. i had a pair and even considering a new pair of the R350 wheels.

Yeah, I know exactly the tires I like on my bike, but car tires are a foreign language to me. I like to attack the few curves we have in the state on a semi-regular basis, but most of our driving will take place on the highways between school, work, the grocery store, and 3-5 hours one-way road trips, so longevity will take precedence over outright grip. Not looking for gummy, but fairly compliant and fairly long-lived, and hopefully confidence-inspiring.

ya thats me too, i like a combination of mileage and grip, although pricey i feel the MPS4S do a great job and i believe are rated for around 30k miles depending on driving of course. there are others cheaper but sacrifice something. my suggestion would be to decide what mileage you would like out of the tire and what price range youre looking at then that will narrow down your selection

19” would be my first choice, but I really like these in bronze, so it has to be 20”. I’m still not decided on tires, but I think I’m going to go ahead and order the wheels.

I went from factory 235/50ZR18's to Goodyear RS-A2 245/45/R19 fronts & Nitto NT05R 305/35/R19 rears. While the front/rear grip improved for corners & braking a lot, the 305 rears from a dig might as well be the 235's again

Ha, well, damn. I was hoping I could inch the accelerometer up a little bit.

I ordered the wheels yesterday, should be here Monday. Now, I’m worried these Louisiana potholes are going to make me regret not forking it out up front for forged, but I just love the design so much.

I had OTSU tires on my last car when I first got my Velgens. I burnt through those tires very quickly. I then replaced them with the NT555 G2 tires which I liked enough to order a few sets when needed. They have a great tread rating and perform well in the rain and dry weather. No issues hitting hard turns on the mountains. Even had to drive them on a snow covered road in WV and they never kicked out on me and they have a great price.

I almost bought them with the NT555 G2s, but I was reading reviews that they get sketchy when it’s cold or wet. I guess you never really know until you try, but I might end up putting some on after we burn through the Ohtsus. I’m reading a lot of high praise for the MPS4S, though, and I know the Pilot name well from bikes, where they get the same kind of nearly universal praise.

I bought the staggered sve series 2 wheels when they first came out with the satin bronze. The ride is really no different than with the stock wheels. Here's a few pics I took when I installed the wheels. They aren't the greatest pics but you get the idea.
