BOHEMIA, NY January 2024 -- North Atlantic Industries, Inc. (NAI), a leader in embedded computing solutions and power supplies, releases its latest SOSA™-aligned 3U Open VPX Multifunction I/O Board. The 68G6 is designed to meet the demands of challenging air, land, and sea I/O, Communications, Measurement and Simulation applications, offering MOSA and SOSA™ aligned modularity, configurability, programmability and adaptability for I/O intensive applications.

The 68G6 is aligned to the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA™) standard, ensuring seamless integration and scalability for extensive I/O and Processing Systems. Key features include configuring the 68G6 with up to three NAI smart I/O and communication function modules with access over standard expansion plane (EP) PCIe and control plane (CP) Ethernet interfaces. The 68G6 also offers easy external backplane interface access direct to a PCIe x1 e.g. Dual Ethernet (EM1) and/or SATA SSD (FMx) function modules for external SBC functional expansion. Furthermore, the 68G6 aligns with NAI’s certifiable product development roadmap, emphasizing its commitment to complying with DO-178C and DO-254 design assurance guidelines for safety-critical applications.

The 68G6 is provided with API/libraries for customer software application development compatible with major operating systems. The 68G6 endpoint includes a Dual or Quad-core ARM® Cortex®-A53 processors (optional) to support local smart module and processing capability. This capability provides a platform for customer developed localized I/O processing and management software applications, offering a robust capability for offloading high-performance computing locally on the 68G6. Security is also a paramount consideration in the 68G6’s design, with up to FIPS-140-3 Level 3 hardware support, a secure boot process, and a comprehensive set of cybersecurity options to uphold the highest data integrity and security standards.

"The release of the 68G6 is a significant milestone for NAI.
