Happy to see the industry clamping down on investigating companies who manufacture structural steelwork without the correct certification. The amount of jobs we have lost over the past three years to companies who do not have the correct procedures in place is incredible. It’s even better when you see companies who have only just obtained the correct certification bragging about it on social media, question is how was you manufacturing before you had it ? The answer is …. ILLEGALLY It’s becoming increasingly clear the main culprit of supplying structural steelwork without the correct certification in place is general building and construction companies. It is a legal requirement that anyone manufacturing structural steelwork to hold BS EN 1090 exc 2. Using a company that does not hold the correct certification can have huge repercussions including fines, void insurance and can void any warranties you have in place. Feel free to share to raise awareness of the legal requirements surrounding structural steel manufacturing across the UK.
