When I was thinking about writing about my favorite books, a thought hit me: what could be better than a book based on real-life experiences that I have directly witnessed? I've known Jeet for the past thirty years, ever since my undergraduate days, and I've heard most of his stories as a friend and then as a business partner. I continue to picture those times as fresh and vivid as I read this book. Jeet's life story serves as an example of what is possible if you are truly committed to making a difference in the world. It has been an incredible journey from having a very modest upbringing to creating and leading a multinational company. The book is not just about life experiences; each chapter has important takeaways that readers can learn from and apply to their own lives. I've read quite a number of books, and as an independent reader, I can clearly see how this book is a powerful collection of real-life experiences and learnings. How often do you get to read a book written by your own professor? My marketing professor, Hank Wasiak told us about his book with Dr. Kathy Cramer and I finally got a chance to start reading it. I have been enjoying reading books that inspire personal growth because most of the lessons resonate deeply, shaping my perspective even when I least expect it. “Change The Way you See Everything” is based on Asset-Based Thinking (ABT), taking “positive thinking” to a whole new level. Here’s a common mistake: Thinking that you aren’t an expert, UNLESS you have written a book. I don’t want my authors to think of the book as a credential. Coming from the world of academia where there are so many hoops to jump through and arbitrary committees tasked with deciding who gets a seat at the table, I’m over that way of thinking. Done! I dream of creating a world where more people think: 🔥 “I’m already an expert, though I may need some help OWNING my expertise.” 🔥 “I’m already an expert, even if I’m the best kept secret in my industry.” 🔥 “I’m already an expert, even if my expertise is UNWRITTEN.” And that’s why I decided to call my book Unwritten (coming in the fall!). Let’s take a seat at the table, instead of waiting for someone else to tap us on the shoulder. 📚 As the year draws to a close, I reflect on a personal milestone that's both fulfilling and thought-provoking. This year, I embarked on a literary journey, setting a goal to complete my Goodreads Reading Challenge📖 for 2023. And, with determination and a deep love for the written word, I'm proud to say that I've achieved this goal! We set out to write ‘Engines of Engagment: a curious book about #GenerativeAI’ not with certainty, but rather curiosity. Certaintly in parts it is a book about what we know, from our diverse perspectives, but more importantly it charts our differences and gaps. It happens when authors have not set goals past the publishing goal. When building a legacy, it does not just stop with writing the book.
