The Hisshou knife, designed by James Williams, is a specialized tool created for military personnel and special forces. It was developed to meet the specific needs of coalition forces overseas who required a more powerful tactical tool than the widely used CRKT Hissatsu™.
Featuring a 13" full-tang dual grind Tanto blade made of YK-30 high-carbon steel with a high satin finish, the Hisshou is designed for maximum slashing power and superior penetration. Weighing 16.4 ounces, it offers superior slashing ability compared to the Hissatsu.
The handle of the Hisshou follows centuries of Japanese tradition, with a classic cord-wrapped design and ray skin underlays. This design provides excellent grip under all conditions, rivaling more modern handle materials.
The Hisshou is intended for situations where firearms cannot be used, such as entry and search operations. It offers multiple carry options depending on the operator's preference. The custom Kydex® sheath, designed by CRKT, features a patented quick-release belt-mounting system. The sheath securely grips the knife with detents and allows for easy one-handed re-sheathing. The belt clip can be attached vertically using the provided Chicago screws. The injection-molded nylon retaining clip allows for instant attachment or release.
Throughout history, military swords have been tailored to fit specific fighting environments. The Hisshou, similar in size to the Japanese wakizashi, is designed for close or confined quarters combat. It demands respect and is not meant for sport or work purposes. However, it can be a lifesaver for military professionals and is reminiscent of the knives carried by the Samurai.
The Hisshou comes with a beautiful lined display box, as shown in the pictures above.
