As Atlanta-based syndicated consumer advice talk personality Clark Howard hangs up his headphones at the end of the year, news/talk WSB-AM & FM (750, 95.5) Atlanta is offering a pair of part-time personalities a 90-day test run during the upcoming available night slot. Shelley Wynter and MalaniKai Massey will air weekdays 10pm-midnight, hosting “Word on the Street.”

The show was created by previous WSB PD Pete Spriggs in mid-2019, before he retired earlier this year. At first, it was a weekly show, then blossomed to both Saturday and Sunday earlier this year. New PD Drew Anderssen tells Atlanta Constitution radio reporter Rodney Ho, “As a result of the breakneck pace of news in 2020, the program has been on quite a bit, tackling tough issues while keeping audiences engaged.”

And now as Howard departs at year-end, Anderssen is giving “Word on the Street” a temporary tryout, offering listeners “the opportunity to assess reaction to a very unique, entertaining and thought-provoking show.”

Wynter and Massey made the official announcement on-air Wednesday. The show’s topics that evening were a mix of light and heavy: asking listeners whether they prefer blinking or solid Christmas lights, what impact tighter security measures will have on Lenox Mall and Joe Biden’s tone while talking to Black civil rights leaders, according to Ho.

The show will also feature executive producer Scotty B and DJ Crystal, who provide additional perspective.
