Q:How does the machine use the batteries? Does is simultaneously use both batteries or 1 then the other. I have a mower, but there is key that points to which battery to use. So when one dies, I just flip the key.

Q:How hard is this to push? How long does it take to charge/how long does a charge last?
      by|Feb 9, 2024

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Cass - Run time and charge time will vary depending on the amp-hour (Ah) size of the batteries you're using. If two 7.5Ah battery packs are used, then the snow blower can provide a run time of up to 40 minutes. And our 40V Rapid Charger, which comes in the kit version, can charge a single 7.5Ah battery in 75 minutes. As for pushing the snow blower, that will depend on the depth and type of the snow you're clearing. If you'd like to get a feel for how it performs, then we'd encourage you to watch this video: https://youtu.be/kXUKxc6xYUQ?si=nPRudnSZOr4LQTR4. We hope this helps! A:  Hello, Brucey - Using both batteries will increase the run time, but the power will remain relatively the same. We hope this helps! It Blows the snow!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a year ago. It has performed really well and has good battery life. It throws the snow up to 20’ . It is very quiet 😀 I have a couple suggestions - the wheels sometimes ice up and hard to push; if there a brush or scraper that would remove the snow as you go would helpful. Second it needs a ski to lift the bottom up over cracks in a sidewalk or driveway-now it has you come to a complete stop.

Works sometimes in the Idaho snow
Used on 4 different snow events in Idaho. It will clear 8 inches of dry powder fairly well, but when we got 6 inches of heavier wet (snowball) snow the machine clogged several times in the chute. It also tends to "push" the snow, unless you run it on the high speed mode which reduces battery time significantly. For the price I was really hoping it would have the power to take on the wetter snow without issues, as my previous 21" gas blower would just eat anything mother nature could throw down.

              Blew Me Away
Which Ryobi to buy? I have a 4plex with a 20'x180' driveway and 9 parking spaces. Debate on the self-propelling wheels (100+ lbs) or smaller size push (52 lbs) I couldn't lift this larger unit out of the truck by myself w/ramps. I optd for cheaper unit w/ 2 battery. I had almost enough power to do the job. Easy to push. Throwing of snow is a little iffy. Ordered 2 more batteries-w/charger (set) Charge time 45 minutes. Used 10% off coupon. No carbon monoxide. Quieter than gas-powered.

Ryobi Doesn't Support/Stand Behind their products
I attempted to purchase a replacement scraper blade after the first wore out (which is expected over time). I purchased the snow blower in the fall of 2021 and a replacement scraper blade has NEVER been available. I've contacted Ryobi many times (starting fall of 2022, most recent 6/19/2023) and they cannot give me an ETA for a replacement part. The first was worn out after the first season. Unless you plan on using this snow blower for only one season DO NOT BUY!

worked well at first but no longer, plus it has SERIOUS safety issue
This worked well for one storm and then on on its second use it worked fine for about an hour, then: I let the handle go and the MACHINE KEPT ON RUNNING! I had to remove both batteries to stop it running. I inserted the batteries again and tried to use it. As soon as the augers touched snow and had the slightest reduction of rotation speed, the machine would shut off. It could not handle less than 1/2” of snow. The lack of stopping occurred a few more times before I had to give up trying to use the blower. I contacted Ryobi mentioning it would not shut off, thinking they would swarm all over the safety issue. They suggested I take it to Home Depot for service. When I took it to Home Depot I was informed that they no longer do service work for Ryobi tools. I have given up on it.

                    Perfect So Far!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first cordless electric snow blower so I was concerned about power overall, battery capacity, and length of charge time. I have used the snow blower 3x this week alone, with the deepest snow being about 9+ inches. The unit worked great especially going downhill on my steep driveway. The batteries took under an hour individually to charge and I was able to complete my driveway and a smaller driveway belonging to my Neighbor and still have 2 lit charge lights out of 5. I would say anything over 10 inches MAY be a challange but not tested as we used the snow blower on about 4 inches in the morning and then 9+ inches that night because the forecast called for more snow overnight. Very satisfied at this point with this purchase.

                      Handled more snow than advertised
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to clear the deck behind the house, about 20x16. The snow was about 14" deep and several days old. It took 3 charges, but the snowblower cleared all the snow from the deck. Loosening the snow with shovel sped up the process. The machine had no trouble throwing it all off the deck. Loved how quiet it was and light enough to carry through the house to get to the deck.

                        Works Good
This snowblower for season 1 has been good. I am getting snow drifts up to 10 inches and it is clearing it easily. I used approximately 1/2 of the batteries clearing and average of 4 inches of snow from an 8 car driveway, cutting a path on a lawn so I can get firewood without putting on boots (6x50 ft) and ~350 feet of sidewalk 4 feet wide.

                          Better Than A Two Stroke...
Just finished with a 4 1/2" heavy, wet snowfall in 33 degree temps. with my year old unit. Didn't miss a beat and easily cleared the dense municipal snow plow ridge at the end of the driveway. Threw snow for nearly an hour and used three bars of two 6 ahr. batteries. My old Toro two stroke snowblower would struggle with this type of snow and stall in the snowplow ridge. The large wheels provide easy maneuvering. Hangs on the garage wall out of the way when not being used.
