Q:Is it possible to change the color if we want to at some point? If yes, what would be the process?
    by|Apr 6, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  SAND & REFINISH: If you wanted to strip off all (7) Layers of Factory UV Cured Stain & Finish, and bring floor down to raw unfinished smooth wood, pending the install application this could technically be done (3) times on a ¾” Solid, 3mm or 4mm Sawn Face Veneer, (1) time on the 3/8” & 1/2” Engineered Locking which has a 1.2mm Thick Face Veneer and (2) times on the 1/2” & 9/16” Engineered Tongue & Groove which has a 2mm Face Veneer or up to 3x on the 9/16” 3mm Sawn Face or 5/8” 4mm Sawn Face. However, this sand & finish is not covered under warranty as there are too many variables which can affect the outcome performed by your professional sand and finish mechanic. More than likely you would never sand and finish a prefinished floor unless you want to 100% change the color and remove the hand scraped, distressed or wire brushed surface texture and all (7) Layers of factory finish. You would also void your lifetime residential finish warranty and the surface texture which is wire brushed or distressed with saw mark etc.

Q:can it be placed over hadronic radiant floor heating systems?
      by|Feb 24, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  : RADIANT HEAT (ENGINEERED HARDWOOD FLOORING): Please follow the guidelines in the Installation Guide attached to each product listing page under "Additional Resources From the Manufacturer". Radiant Heat Systems • The radiant heat system must have been tested and in operation for a few weeks prior to installation. • The radiant heating system needs to be turned off prior to installation and the floor needs to be close to room temperature 65 to 75 degrees. If the radiant heat pipes are visible or exposed in the subfloor, you must cover them with 3/8” plywood to spread heat more evenly. • After the flooring is installed, slowly raise the temperature to the preferred comfort level (over at least a 5 day timeframe) beginning two days after installation or at the onset of colder weather conditions. • The radiant heat system must be controlled and the surface temperature of the flooring must never be allowed to exceed 85°F. • Proper relative humidity must be maintained within your home at all times during the year. For best results and to minimize seasonal gaps keep indoor humidity between 30% to 50% RH. If you are in an arid part of the USA or Canada, it is especially imperative that you use a humidifying system to maintain this moisture in the air. • Forced air heating system also can dry out the air inside your house much more than you might imagine, so use of a Relative Humidity meter(Hygrometer) is recommended to ensure you know when you must use a humidifier to keep the relative humidity above 30%. • Even when these guidelines are followed it is still possible that your flooring may experience some cracks (seasonal checking) on the plank surface and/or gapping between planks due to slight shrinkage, which are not covered by the products limited warranty.

          preview pic is misleading
We bought this flooring based on price AND frequency of knots. There are MANY more knots than shown in the preview picture. Also, the texture varies from fairly smooth to fairly rough with deep grain grouves. There are also MANY filled knots with a gray polymer that does not blend well with the wood color

We use character grade hardwood to meet these design specifications, which may include naturally occurring cracks, splits, knotholes, mineral streaks, black or Coordinating filler for stability, depending the collection. By using this grade of material we are able to enhance the natural beauty of the hardwood floor you have chosen. We highly suggest reviewing all room scenes, digital assets, reviewing store samples if available, and always order online samples available for purchase. JasonMWP

            Malibu Wide Plank Torrey
Simply stunning. If youre looking for that perfect california beige-y blonde then look no further. I laid a few boards out to see how it looks before we started demo and I am so pleased. I was trying to decide between Grandview and torrey forever, but another review that said they used a purply grey filler in the grandview is what sealed it for me to choose the Torrey Color If you’re looking for that perfect california casual look, then the Torrey is for you. The 7.5” thickness is just gorgeous, too. Love the matte look of the floors and just laying these out was a breeze with a perfect t

Gorgeous Floors but not as "clear" as shown in ads
I absolutely LOVE this floor! Putting it in the whole top floor of our home. We submerged a sample in water for 24 hrs and then measured with a micrometer, it barely budged! Seems to be pretty scratch resistant. Only heard a medium amount of swearing while my husband installed it, so installation must not be too hard. Considerably more knots in this flooring than shown in the ad, just an FYI. We really wanted the clear oak look but got a fairly rustic look. Also, filler is grey, very ugly!

Quality floor at a decent price
Positives: Fairly easy to install. I did it myself with no issues. The floors look amazing. The light white oak color we were looking for. Seem to be pretty durable. I really like the wide (but not too wide) width. Lots of longer lengths. CONS: Some boards have a lot of knots in them. To make it worse, the company filled them with a purplish-grey filler that doesn't look at all natural. Ruins the look in some areas. Really great floors at this price point!

                  So far, so good!!
After researching and sampling MULTIPLE engineered wood flooring options, we opted for the "Malibu Wide Plank - Point Lobos" for our new home. The thicker veneer (3mm) along with the color and finish finally sold us on selecting Point Lobos over other HD / MWP options. You can tell from the photos that some filler is used to repair open knots and flaws, but this practice is minimal and not distracting to the overall appearance. So far, SO GOOD - very happy with our decision!

                    Good quality and value flooring.
Installed 275 sq ft and am very pleased with the quality of product. The 9/16” thickness required some creativity when transitioning to nearby rooms with thinner flooring, such as 1/2” tile, but the thick top layer of oak will provide for many years of wear. The quality of the engineered wood is high with no warping or bending of any boards noted in 13 boxes. There were also no voids or gaps inside noted with any of the cut pieces. The tongue and groove milling was very consistent with good fit of all boards. All of the boxes arrived without damage. The boards are wrapped in plastic and thin foam wrapping for protection. The finish and appearance of all boards was consistent.

                    Great Low-Cost Product
Although we decided on a different, and more expensive flooring, we were very impressed with the quality of this product. The 3mm veneer and 9/16 in. thickness is unheard of at this price point. The lengths were adequately varied, although not as long as some higher priced options. The quality of the plywood below the veneer is very good, but again not as high quality as some higher priced options. The only reason we decided to go with a different flooring was we prefer a non-wire brushed.

These floors are beautiful and very well made. The 3mm veneer is gorgeous and the surface texture is beautiful! We started with one room and now my wife wants to do the whole house! Highly recommended!
