PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) will conduct a mock test for Class X students, aspiring to get admissions to Science or Diploma courses in Class XI.

The mock test will be held on a weekend before the conduct of the Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based entrance examination, which is likely to take place this month end.

Speaking to media persons, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said, “The idea is basically to ensure there are no hurdles in conduct of the final entrance exams. Also, it will help students to get prepared for the examination and Board will be in position to know where the student stands.”

Earlier, Goa Board chairman Bhagirath Shetye said the mock test will be conducted for around 1,000 students who are interested in taking admission to Science or Diploma courses in Class XI.

Shetye said that the preference has been given to students from Sattari, Bicholim, Sanguem, Quepem, Canacona and Dharbandoda for the mock test as the primary purpose of conducting it is to gauge the availability of connectivity and other requisites for answering the entrance test.

He said that the date of the entrance exams will be announced after the SSC result, which will be declared on July 13.

The Class X Board exam was cancelled in view of the ongoing COVID19 pandemic. Nearly 25,000 students were set to answer the exams.

Shetye also said that 393 schools are in the process of uploading their internal assessment marks on the portal.

He said that students who are not happy with the results will be given the option to seek a physical examination that would be conducted whenever the situation becomes conducive to conduct it.
