12" screen can easily be installed using the Gore method with stock apim by tapping into fuse 29 and 36 and forscan change credit goes to john gore his the guru for this all info came from him will need cables wpt982 and ML3Z14D202B

I recently did the 12" screen swap this past weekend and after I buttoned everything back up I got curious if I could have just reused the old APIM, glad I ran across your thread.

Do you have full screen CarPlay or android auto? I am trying to get the update but the APIM that I received was from a 2021 F150 on an older version of Sync 4 and I won't update.

Do you still have access to remote start via FordPass?

With the stock APIM are you able to somehow get the heated wheel to show up?

did you need two power sources b/c you used the 8" apim? or would the 12" apim need two as well?

I tried to PM Acagro to see what was done for the second power source from the blue connector on the APIM. I am currently using and APIM for a 12" screen for my upgrade and it has what seems to be additional power that the 8" APIM does not have. Here I am assuming the additional power prongs on cable (ML3Z14D202B) that slot into the 12" APIM were broke off and ran to either fuse 26 or 39 because they are missing from the cable on the blue connector in the first photo

That makes sense, the 8" apim doesn't output power over that cable while the 12" apim does add power there.

yes you are correct sorry work keeps me off the phone but fuses 29 and 36 have to be tapped all the 12" apim does is provide that 12v power to the screen but that same power can be received from the FUSE BOX in passenger side ive seen vids where they get power from other sources and causes issues this is the safest way now if wire is done poorly there will be small issues like screen turning off or color issues so if doing this way make sure to crimp/solder everything right ,as for the ground just use the same ground thats behind the stock apim

Thank you for clearing that up a bit. I am going to give it a try this weekend hopefully that will fix my FordPass issue and give me the fullscreen CarPlay since this APIM won't receive updates

honestly if you already have all that set up you might as well just update it with a mongoose cable or one that allows you to update through fdrs

I’ve been considering that, but I also could return it since I’m within the window and it would be a factory APIM vs a from a used truck

Can you guys share the P/N of screen you purchased?
Here is what I bought. I don't have any part numbers but here’s the links to everything. I have a 23’ XL

Screen with APIM: They also sell just the screen been a good seller for me.

HVAC & Radio trim:

Cluster: I did this as well if you’re interested. Was easy, plug and play with little programming. I did not buy new dash trim since it was so freaking expensive.
