Georgia-born Richard Penniman, a.k.a. Little Richard burst on the music scene in 1955 with his debut single, "Lucille". His wild vocals and thumping piano set the tone for a string of some 15 hits. He was a pioneer, not only musically, but also in integration. At a time when the color line was hard and fast, Little Richard's songs got lots of airplay on stations across the country - not just in the south. Jenny, Jenny made it to number 10 on the pop chart, and number 2 on the R&B chart. It was covered by lots of artists, including Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels. The flip side, Miss Ann, was a minor hit on R&B stations.

I've had this record a long time. The label is a bit soiled, so I wasn't sure how the record would sound. After a little cleaning, I was surprised that it sounded pretty good. There are no skips; and as with lots of old 45's that were recorded hot, if there are any clicks and pops, you'll never know. I'll ship it with a new inner sleeve and plastic cover.

The first time I heard Little Richard, back when I was a little kid, I couldn't believe the sound. Just so big, loud and fun.
