Invasion of the robot insects! 24ft-long scorpion and 33ft-wide tarantula among terrifying display at zoo
A world-first exhibition of super-sized robotic bugs including a 24ft-long scorpion and a 33ft-wide tarantula has gone on display to teach children about insects.
A man-sized ladybird also forms part of the eye-catching display at Chester Zoo.
The outdoor exhibition is set in the plants as the zoo aimed to educate young children about conservation.

A spokesperson for Chester Zoo said: 'We do a lot of conservation work around the world and in the UK with different insects, but people often don't think about bugs as being important.
'These super-sized versions are designed to say to put bugs and creepy crawlies in the spotlight and raise awareness of their importance in nature's food chain.
'Sometimes, educating people about conservation requires some drastic ideas - in this case, 13 huge bugs.'
The hairy critters were custom-built for the zoo by an animation studio in the USA and will be open to the public tomorrow.
