About the iDatalink HRN-HRR-GM5 Vehicle-specific Harness
iDatalink's ADS HRN-HRR-GM5
iDatalink's ADS HRN-HRR-GM5
This iDatalink HRN-HRR-GM5 harness from iDatalink allows you to connect a new car stereo in select GM and Suzuki vehicles, working in conjunction with iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MRR or ADS-MRR2 module. Once connected, you'll retain your steering wheel audio controls, OnStar, Bluetooth phone, amplifier turn-on, and Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) (requires iDatalink HRN-AV-GM5 adapter sold separately). With a new iDatalink-ready head unit, you'll also keep your factory backup camera (composite video rearview camera input required) and factory SiriusXM, as well as adding the ability to display gauges and vehicle information on your screen. The harness also provides the outputs (parking brake, reverse, and VSS [Vehicle Speed Sense] needed to install a navigation receiver.
Installation
The package includes connectors that plug in between the Maestro module, your vehicle's radio's wiring plugs, and your new car stereo. This harness also features an in-line head-unit connector harness, which will plug into iDatalink's "Head-unit direct" harnesses for select radio brands, which eliminate the need to splice any wires. If you're installing a radio that doesn't work with a "Head-unit direct" harness, you simply cut off the plug and connect the harness's power/ground, illumination, speaker, and navigation output wires to the corresponding wires on your aftermarket receiver's wiring harness.
Installation note: The HRN-HRR-GM5 harness must be used with the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR or ADS-MRR2 module to connect a new car stereo to your GM-made vehicle.
