Mavic SSC brakes?
Hi,
Does anyone use the said brakes? Are they any good?
I guess a better option would be to buy TRP 920s or go with a full groupset of either Campagnolo or Shimano, but, for some reason, I just love Mavic.

i have been using a set for a little more than a year now.
before the mavics I was using ultegra. Bottom line, they're great.
I don't really notice a difference in stopping power and modulation, but they work well and I have not had a single problem.
They don't have a quick release like the shimano brakes have, so if you're using shimano levers and tires wider than 23, you may have to use the barrel adjuster to get your wheels off. With campy you can just release tension at the brake lever.
My favorite part is the details and high quality finish. The mavic calipers use a leaf spring rather than a rounded coil spring. The leaf spring is flat and looks much more refined than the springs that shimano and other brands use.

Gotcha. Thanks, guys.
Not that there's anything wrong with Shimano components, I will, most likely, end up buying Campagnolo. And with their levers the lack of quick release will be a non-issue.
Just wish I could find a NOS SSC groupset somewhere. Would probably not have the money to afford it, but one can dream.

+1 on the Mavics, I have them on 2 of my bikes and couple with Swisstop or Kool stop pads they have great stopping power.. Just a hair stronger than the DA brakes..
These are preferred with Campy setup, they do not have a lever to open your brakes like Shimano brakes so take that into consideration.

Interestingly, a few times I've (stupidly) forgotten to close the brakes after using the QR, and they still worked well enough that I didn't notice...
