Reliable, Right Size
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 4 for my Synology Network Attached Storage. So far, 9 months on, no problems. The 7200 rpm speed is a bonus, reliability is great so far. Size is about right for my needs. The drives are generally quiet, except for when under heavy use, which isn't often. All in all, a good, quality product.

20/20 24/7, 3 yrs. commercial use, 0 failures! :-)
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 20 of these almost 3 years ago for 2 different Linux-based NAS builds. (Ubuntu RAID 6 and TrueNas RAID-Z3) They're in my business running 24/7 so that is a testament to the quality of these drives. The last batch of drives that failed in 2020 were Seagate, and the WD Reds from back then never even failed. I changed them out before they reached 5 years, as I always do on good drives rather than take the risk. Hopefully the next batch I buy are as reliable.

So Good, So Far!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had it for some time, and I haven't had any issues. Funny story - I actually bought this one because I was having a file corruption problem with my other one. I sent my first one to Western Digital to have it serviced, and it took so long that I did some research and found out that they sometimes can take up to a month. So, I decided to buy a new drive. Ironically, it turned out that the first drive was fine, the noises I heard are normal for the WD Red drives, and the file corruption was caused by a software bug.

Best Buy is not called "Best Buy" for nothing!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent price for excellent HD's. These hard drives are great and I replaced 2 TB hard drives with them in a RAID and quadrupled my capacity. I purchased 8 in total. These things just run and run and run!

Q: QuestionDrive always makes a light thud sound every 3 to 10 seconds while in idle. Is this because it is a NAS drive? Any way to stop it?
Asked by Gene.
- A:Answer It shouldn't do that.

Q: QuestionI have a Dell XPS8930 desktop that says it takes 3.5 in SATA Hard drives. Will this work in it?
Asked by JimInHouston.
- A:Answer It will work perfectly fine, you don't need a NAS hard drive and can save money with a standard 8TB hard drive. The NAS hard drive is the same but designed to run 24x7 with alot of activity happening with it. Definitely more durable than a standard drive.

Q: QuestionOne of the reviews discusses a clicking noise- is that normal? What causes that?
Asked by Joe.
- A:Answer Clicking noise means the drive is faulty or dying so back up your data while you can. Check with the manufacturer for warranty replacement.
