- A: AnswerYou do not have to activate the WD software to use it as a Time Machine storage. In fact, I would recommend not activating the WD app as it will not be used, but often inserts itself on boot-up.

- A: AnswerHi Ohiosid, There could be a few reasons why the drive is not showing up in Finder, or the Mac Desktop. Great product
I’ve been struggling with storage on my MacBook Air for a while and decided it was time to do something. After a lot of research I ultimately decided to give this a try. Set up is easy and so far, so good!

I love the western digital passport for Mac! I just bought my second one because I loved the first one so much! Very reliable external hard drive, definitely recommend!
