What a great tv at even better price

This thing is a killer. Let me warn you to not try to install this yourself unless you have four people. You will need a minimum of three people to mount it while a fourth guides you and puts on the cables. That said, the Geek Squad was amazing at relocating the old mount, hanging the tv and setting its functions up. They also made me aware of the relatively low price of five year warranty at this $1999 purchase price vs full price. And also reminded me the replacement cost would most likely be closer to $5K than $2K. The colors, contrast and blinding brightness on strong white scenes are all incredible. Remember tho, picture quality can't be better than what you feed it or as its known, garbage in, garbage out. The responsible pay streamers like Disney+, Apple+ and Netflix among others look exquisite. Lesser channels such as Frndly TV look awful, a result of their over compression to save money on bandwidth. Also fairly poor quality is my over the air channels being received by an Amazon Recast at 720P and wifi'd to the tv. In fairness, I've found network OTA channels to have among the best quality when received on a tv tuner. I may run a coax to it this summer. 4K UHD blue rays are of course, spectacular. A quality of picture I never would have believed at this price. Absolutely no complaints about the tv, picture quality or Geek Squad performance. There is always one exception to every statement however, and we ran into one problem. The digital optical output has been used to feed the bluetooth transmitter to a pair of hearing aids. Both the tv digital stream was ok, and the hearing aids transmitter was ok, but the transmitter would not work with the tv digital SPIDF optical out. We finally circumvented the problem by taking analog outputs for Zone B from our surround receiver and feeding that to the heating aid box. Problem solved.

    Delivers impressive 4K HDR picture

After watching the TV for a few days, I'm totally impressed by the quality of the 4K HDR picture! It's definitely bright enough after turning off the auto light sensor. The 100 inches is definitely impressive! I have the Optoma UHD38 4K projector on a 150-inch projector screen, and it's not a competition with this TV in terms of picture quality. I also have the 77-inch OLED C1, and I know the Hisense is not going to beat that picture, but if I had to choose between my 77-inch OLED or the 100-inch Hisense, I would probably pick the Hisense since the picture is good enough. The only downside about the Hisense is that the upscaling isn't great when watching lower quality video, but it's not a big deal for me since I mostly stick to 4K HDR content from streaming services. Overall, it's definitely a deal for 2K!

    Beat my expectations…

I changed the image from the default setting to Normal and the picture brightened up a lot. I’m very satisfied with the quality and size in particular due to the low price. I wasn’t expecting much, but so far I’m very happy. I’m coming from a 4 year old Sony x900F and the image is comparable. The Sony has major issues displaying Dolby Vision and HDR, but it looks decent on the Hisense. That’s one thing it absolutely does better than the Sony. I’m hoping for the same long term reliability that I’ve had from all my Sonys I’ve owned over the years. If so, I’ll be a happy man. That’s to be determined. But for $2,000 and a 2 year warranty from Hisense, I think it’s worth a shot.
