Obituary
Fred Smith, Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the age of 79. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Josephine Davis Smith; his children Maria and Fred Jr. (Cinnamon); six grandchildren: Zirece; Houston; Caitlyn; Zavier, Jamaya, and Jordan; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of family and friends. Fred is preceded in death by his parents Doretha Jones Smith Brown, Archie Smith, Lamar Brown, and his siblings Archie Jr., Alma, Audrey, and Charles. Loved ones are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Thursday, December 22, 2022, for 11:00 p.m. at Progressive Baptist Church, 1214 S. Robertson Street, New Orleans, LA 70113. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Willie Gable Jr., Pastor Emeritus, will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery #3, 3421 Esplanade Avenue New Orleans, LA 70119.
