Seems to be a unique product at this point in time, however if the mSATA form factor survives much longer, there will be others. The product does what it purports to do, which is to allow you to use an mSATA drive in a desktop computer, tying up one of the add in card slots, but not actually seating itself in the electrical portion of the slot. This is both a positive and a negative, in that if it seated in the slot over which it lies, then there would be no need to hook SATA power and data cables up to it, which is required with this product. It's somewhat positive in that the sort of slot it lies in is thus unimportant. It comes mounted as for use in a full sized tower or mini-tower computer, but also has the bracket for transferring over to a half-height slot. It was tedious, if obvious, transferring it over given the plastic securing nuts used.
There are a couple of negatives in this otherwise well made product. One is that the clearance around the sata ports is quite tight, so you will find that, for example, a locking SATA data cable will not fit or work. The other negative is that at least in some computers this slot is going to be located so far away from the power supply cables, that you will need extension and or splitter power cables to reach it, as was the case in my smaller desktop (Lenovo M93P SFF) computer. Given the cost of this item, and how it is going to be installed in a given desktop, the manufacturer should have included at least an extension SATA power or SATA power splitter cable to enable it to be used out of the box without a trip to a computer hardware store or another order placed on Amazon.
The product worked fine and for my use I am happy with it, although it could have been more intelligently engineered and packaged, as above.
