They use a standard 66 block wall mount. You screw the plastic wall mount to the wall and then the patch panel itself snaps in. I love this system because you can unclip the patch panel from wall mount, flip it over, snap it on upside down, and easily punch all your wires--then just flip it back over when done!
Also it passed with flying colors when tested! I bought three of these and punched 20 of the ports. I had a wiring job that everything had to go in a small cabinet that a rack mount system just wouldn't fit. I used Cat6 500mhz wire and cat5e keystones on the other side. Every run passed rated for better than cat6 speed--well after I fixed the one I miss-punched!
I've used this style before. Be careful, some come with with the 66 block mount and some don't. But this Tripp Lite version does and it works great great. I've bought three of the Tripp Lite cat5e in July 2015 and one of the cat6 ones in June of 2014. I've installed a lot of patch panels and have no complaints with Tripp Lite.
If you're doing this at home, on a budget, you could always use an electrical box, multiple outlet keystone faceplate, and keystone punch down jacks to make your own patch panel. I did this in my upstairs closet because of the difficulty in running multiple Cat5 cables into my upstairs. I ran 1 cable as the supply, hooked it into an 4 port wireless bridge / access point, then ran 3 lines to the other rooms in the upstairs from keystone jacks I installed into the wall. This serves my purpose well. None-the-less, I really like the Patch Panel.
Simply mount the bracket, snap in the patch panel backwards to keep it in place as you punch down your runs. Once done, remove it from the mount, flip over and snap back in with the front facing out. Then run a patch cord from the lines you punched down to your connected switch and you are pretty much done.
If it's a clean run then you are set. If you are using existing Cat5e that was used initially for phone lines then make sure you purchase Cat5e punch down jacks for the wall connections in your rooms.
No issues or problems, worked like a champ and very happy with it.
This patch panel arrived in a small white box with not much insulation to protect the patch panel. It does come with basic instructions that a non professional might find confusing.
I emptied the contents of the box and removed the wall mount bracket. I then was able to secure the bracket to the backer board. After this is done you can snap the patch panel onto the bracket backwards to begin punching down.
The labels that are in place on the back of this patch panel are flimsy and aren’t secured so they move around. I was able to terminate all jacks without and faulty ones.
One thing I must say is this is a budget patch panel. It’s not high quality like other brands but it gets the job done and seems to be reliable. The majority of this panel is made from plastic which makes it feel cheap.
Overall, If your looking to save money and get a patch panel that works this is the product for you.

Matches well with a 48 port switch.

Matches well with a 48 port switch.
I installed CAT6 cables using the T568B standard. It's extremely important that both ends of a cable have the same configuration or they become a crossover cable. The cable guides are handy to keep the cable in place during/after punching down and are easy to clip on but once in place are very difficult to get off (not that you'll ever need to remove these). I would recommend a punch down tool with a wire cutter as general wire cutters don't result in a clean finish. Also, the bulkier the punch down tool, the more difficult to use with the cable guides in place because some of the cable guides stick out over the connectors and the punch down tool does not line up accurately which then require bending the guide back a little without snapping the plastic. Always give yourself enough conductor length to reach the connectors, starting with the farthest connector and working your way in. After punching down it's best to keep the conductors as close to their connectors as sometimes interfering conductors from other cables can result in crosstalk.
This is a great product for home installs too, and accompanied with a cable organiser, can look very neat and tidy. The colour coded standards on the reverse for each port are helpful and makes installation easy. The connectors are great quality and reliable for PoE devices running around the clock.
I've used this for 4 access points, 4 PoE CCTV camera's, 8 in-wall modules and various local hardware around the house. Setup in a reasonably insulated loft, it's been running for 6 months now, around the clock with no failures, no problems, and 100% uptime across the network.
A recommended buy for any DIY enthusiast as much as a network specialist.
