This shower head is surprisingly good!
This review is for the SparkPod High Pressure Shower Filter Head in oil rubbed bronze finish.I ordered this to replace a 2 year old shower head that is clogged up with mineral deposits and water spraying in all directions.The SparkPod shower head comes with everything necessary to install - no tools required for install. Of note in the included accessories, it comes with 2 gaskets, only 1 is used so you get an extra.It also includes 2 flow restrictors, a preinstalled 1.8 GPM and an extra 2.5 GPM restrictor, plus 2 screened gaskets in case you want to use the head without a restrictor.Physically, this shower head is large in diameter and sticks out more due to the filter. I have included pictures next to my original shower head for a size comparison. The filter also adds a bit of size to the total installation. I did not encounter any issues with fitment even though the head is larger. I think the actual material is some kind of plastic but it seems strong and durable - no issues with the build quality at all.Installation is easy and tool-less. The instruction booklet is clear and easy to understand with pictures. I only needed a wrench to remove my old shower head. Once I removed the old shower head, I cleaned off the old plumber's tape and cleaned the threads on the pipe with some isopropyl alcohol. After that, just follow the instructions and apply the included plumber's tape and hand tighten the filter. Then, hand screw in the actual shower head onto the filter. In my install, I chose to use the 2.5 GPM restrictor. The install took maybe 15 minutes. I turned on the shower and checked for leaks.On first use, I noticed the size makes a huge difference and I found I really like the rain shower setting. The water pressure is good. The massage setting is a little bit weaker than my old shower head but I don't tend to use that setting so it wasn't an issue for me. The mist setting seems a bit gimmicky to me. The biggest difference is the number of nozzles, size of the head, and filter.The water doesn't feel "slimy" like what you would get through a water softener but it did feel noticeably lighter. The water in my area is very hard and I struggle with hard water mineral deposits at every water outlet. The water definitely felt different to me due to the filter. Time will tell how well the filter works in preventing hard water stains on my tile shower.My only negative is with the included plumber's tape. It is just adequate quality and does the job. If you have your own already, I would recommend to use your own or purchase separately.For a fair review, I only used the included items.In summary, I am extremely surprised and pleased with the result of the SparkPod High Pressure Shower Filter Head. It is such a big difference compared to my old shower head.I can feel the difference of the water coming through the filter. Installation couldn't be easier. Highly recommended! I plan to replace my other shower heads with this.Definitely consider if you are looking to replace your shower head and you have issues with hard water.
