  • Energy efficient air purifier with three manual fan speeds plus Auto mode. Auto mode automatically optimizes the fan speed based on the level of indoor air quality. When no pollution is detected for 30 minutes, the fan will automatically stop and enter Eco mode to save energy.

It is very cool product. My husband want a fan in bedroom for air circulation. I ran into this item. I was concern if they won’t provide the cool air the fan provides. Turn out it is cooling and clean the air nicely. I turn to like it so much. It is quiet if It is on 1st or 2nd speed. The 3 one can be loud, but is ok. Not like drive us crazy or anything. I ends up using it none stop. Whenever I’m in the room I would use it. Bedroom, and living room. As for the light at night. You have option to turn it off. But I realized the light is ok with me.

I like the filtering capacity and quality of the filters. The unit uses two large hepa filters as well as pre-filters which extend the life of the hepa filters. Ive had the hepa filters in use for over a year no problem. The LED display lights on top are bright and need to be covered at night. Other than that, nice unit for the price.

I already own the Coway 1512HH and would have bought another one except I haven't been able to get replacement filters for over a month and no one on Amazon or Coway USA's site has responded to my inquiry on this. So I decided to give this model a try. The biggest advantage of this one is that it is much quieter on the top speed. Once you drop down to the middle speed they are both very quiet, the older version might even be quieter.

It is quiet a big bigger (not heavier) but it also seems to do a better job of moving more air. The big blue ring is ridiculously bright, but you can turn it off. Unfortunately when you turn the light off, it turns on some other white lights so you still don't have the lights off entirely. I've solved this on all of mine my making a flap out of ducktape that goes over the light, which was actually easier on the 1512. On the old model if you turned it off and then turned it back on it comes back on the same setting you had it on. The new one comes back on at the lowest speed every time (auto), which I think is a disadvantage also.

However, overall I'm still giving it 4 stars because it does it's job of filtering the air well at a very good price. My neighbors decided to start using an old wood stove to heat their house and their chimney seems to vent right into my home when the wind blows from the south and both models have been helping my house not to just smell like a campfire all the time.

I've owned several air purifiers and needed some for a very large house. I bought this model and the Coway 1512 HH for comparison. Both are outstanding machines. The 1512HH sucks air through the sides and blows it up. This 1216L sucks air through the side and blow it to the right side of the machine. The air sensor on this is on the left side of the machine. I think how a machine moves air is an often overlooked aspect of buying an air filter. In my very large house, I've looked the very expensive Blueair pro XL. It's got incredible CADR rating. But I find that I can get similar performance, and perhaps better filtration with 3 of these 1216Ls in the same space. The side way vent allows me to steer air around the room rather than just blowing it up top. Perhaps it's just my imagination, but I think this method is a bit more effective at removing dust. Anyways, I find really love the styling of the 1216L. Much cleaner and more modern than the 1512. I'm a tall guy and not having to bend down to use the control is a plus. The displays are better looking as well. Operationally they are about the same. I leave mine on auto. The sensor works well in detecting pollution. Both filter well, both very quiet, almost no sounds at all on low. I now have 5 of these in my home and love it. They all run automatically and I don't even need to touch them but twice a year. Now, operating cost is very low. However, is twice as high as its sibling 1512, simply because there is no generic filter available yet. Overall, I'm really really happy with this filter. Very happy I went with Coway rather than the Blueair units.

update: One of the weaknesses of this filter is that it doesn't have a timer. I have it on a smart plug and use it with Alexa. Some air filters don't turn back on one the power is off from the plug. This one does. What this means is that you can put it on an external timer and it will turn on the filter at the last setting when the plug is turned on. Only thing that does not turn back on is the ionizer. That remains off.

My Coway 1216-L has run nonstop since February 2017. Very quiet when on auto. Louder on higher setting but its still a whooshing noise not a motor, rattle or hairdryer noise in anyway. I sleep with it on high and blowing over my bed to keep my hot flashes from waking me up. Its a nice white noise to drown out noise. Also seems to cool my house down 1-2 degrees 🤷‍♀️ In summer. Must work for dander very well because my moms severe allergy to dog dander is not bothered in my home and I have a lab/border collie mix. Vacuum the screen and charcoal filter as needed and replace Hepa every 6 months. 5 yrs and hoping for many many more. ❤️❤️❤️

Being very satisfied with the performance of the Coway AP-1512, I ordered this AP-1216L. The design is nice for a tower AP. It's also quite big and tall. Setup is easy. Air is drawn in front and blown out on the right side when facing the AP. I find the auto mode to be very practical. I bought both these AP to minimize cigarettes odors in my apartment. People coming over (non smokers) told me that they do notice a big difference in air quality. Obviously, these AP won't obliterate cigarette smell but does help quite a bit. For example, most of the time, the auto mode is keeping the AP on low setting but when I lit a cigarette, the AP within 1 or 2 minutes will switched to high setting for 10-15 minutes and resume to low setting. Air monitoring/sensor is effective. To summarize, I'm very happy with both the AP-1216 and AP-1512, both perform very well, are easy to clean, fan noise on medium and low setting is not noticeable, washable pre-filter is helping in keeping the carbon and hepa filters clean.
