I was so desperate to get a large back up storage device for my 1tb MacBook Pro… Previously i had used WD 1 and 2tb ssds (6 in total)…. This is much faster even though it’s a physical Hard Drive.

The build quality is amazing… very solid and inspires confidence in its reliability.

Nose level is not an issue at all (ignore what the other reviews are saying) it’s quiet. A very very very minimal whirring of a fan… It would not interrupt any mic work you are doing.

Its larger and more impressive than you would think… Certainly looks and feels very professional.

Excellent product, and a great value for the money. I use it for storage of my videos and recordings. The transfer speed is great. Is not the maximum transfer speed that you can find, but I don't need this as I only use it in transferring from my other external memories (portable ones) to this big desktop hard drive. So if your intention is storing nd not focusing only in transfer speed, this is your product.

Dispositivo elegante e molto solido, mantiene le promesse in termini di prestazioni ma punta sulla capacità di archiviazione piuttosto che sulle velocità molto spinte. Da usare preferibilmente come dispositivo di backup piuttosto che come disco esterno di lavoro.

» COSTRUZIONE E DESIGN

Case esterno in alluminio molto solido ed elegante. In plastica la parte superiore (che vorrebbe simulare un dissipatore) così come la parte frontale. Anche le viti laterali sono in plastica ed hanno solo funzione estetica.

L'aspetto è gradevole, direi futuristico, linee semplici che trovano facilmente spazio nel proprio setup.
Led frontale utile per verificare il funzionamento del disco ed al contempo gradevole da vedere, non infastidisce ma può comunque essere disattivato.

Solide le connessioni dati e di alimentazione, accolgono i connettori senza incertezze.

Due i pulsanti posteriori per accensione e gestione dell'illuminazione led. Questa probabilmente è la criticità maggiore in fatto di design, il pulsante di alimentazione infatti è scomodo da raggiungere, molto probabilmente va utilizzato "alla cieca" nella maggior parte delle configurazioni desktop, soprattutto nel caso il disco venga spento comunque si riaccenderà al successivo riavvio, personalmente avrei preferito uno switch on/off.

» PRESTAZIONI

In linea con quanto dichiarato dal produttore, la velocità corrisponde alle classiche prestazioni di un disco rigido meccanico, tuttavia questo tipo di prodotto punta sulla grande capacità di archiviazione più che sulle velocità da primato raggiungibili dallo stato solido.

La rumorosità è accettabile, non si tratta comunque di un'unità silenziosa come lo sarebbe un disco SSD, quando lavora il disco fa sentire i suoi 7200 RPM, lo scotto da pagare in cambio delle prestazioni.

Le temperature sono nella norma, il case esterno risulta leggermente caldo dopo un uso prolungato, mentre una volta in stand-by si raffredda molto velocemente in un ambiente con temperatura tra i 20 e 24 gradi.

Importante utilizzare il cavo fornito o dotarsi di un cavo USB-C che possa essere in grado di fornire almeno 10 Gbs, diversamente le prestazioni potrebbero non essere in linea con quanto dichiarato ma cosa ancora più grave potrebbero verificarsi blocchi che causerebbero potenziali perdite di dati.

Utilizzato nelle condizioni e nel modo per cui è progettato, ovvero fermo sulla propria scrivania e con un cavo adeguato, le prestazioni sono ottimali e l'affidabilità assoluta, può diventare sicuramente un ottimo sistema di backup.

» CONCLUSIONI

Prodotto molto gradevole esteticamente, oltre che molto funzionale.

Adempie pienamente al proprio scopo ovvero fornire una grande quantità di archiviazione ad un costo relativamente basso.

Consiglio l'uso di questa unità come dispositivo di backup e non come disco di lavoro (contrariamente a quanto afferma SanDisk), la velocità è assolutamente anacronistica infatti a causa della tecnologia del disco, penalizzata ulteriormente dalla connessione USB, per lavorare direttamente su disco esterno meglio dotarsi di un'unità a stato solido.
