PSG: Angel Di Maria to leave on free transfer after seven years at club

Angel Di Maria will leave Paris Saint-Germain upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June.

Di Maria, 34, joined PSG from Manchester United in 2015 and has been a key figure at the club under Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino.

Before this season, he had never made fewer than 40 appearances in a season for PSG.

Di Maria leaves PSG with 18 titles and is the club’s all-time assist provider with 118.

“Angel Di Maria has definitely marked the history of the club,” said Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG’s president.

“He will be remembered by supporters as a player of impeccable spirit, who showed unwavering commitment to defending our colours.

“I invite the whole Paris Saint-Germain family to meet tomorrow (Saturday) at the Parc des Princes to pay him the tribute he deserves.”

PSG host Metz in their final Ligue 1 game of the season on Saturday. Pochettino’s side claimed the league title last month.

Di Maria has featured in 30 games across all competitions for PSG this season, scoring four goals and assisting eight. In total, he has made 294 appearances at the Paris club, scoring 91 goals.

The 121-time Argentina international has previously played for Benfica and Real Madrid, as well as United, in European club football.
