Fujitsu has been launching quite a few laptops in India. One of their most interesting offerings is the Fujitsu CH series. Initially, it was launched with an OLED display and quite good internals. They later launched another variant with an IGZO panel. It’s essentially an LCD panel with a higher contrast ratio and deeper blacks compared to other run-of-the-mill LCD panels.

Our unit has the IGZO panel, and it comes with the 11th Gen Intel i5-1135G7 processor along with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB of PCIe Gen3 SSD. It is one of the lightest laptops we have ever used, as it just weighs less than a kilogram. We have been using it for more than two weeks as our main laptop and will share all the details regarding the laptop in this article.

Let’s get started with the Fujitsu CH 4ZR1C22927 review. Here on, we will refer to it as just Fujitsu CH.

Fujitsu CH: Build and Design

We will start with the build and design of the laptop, as it’s the first thing you get in contact with while purchasing a product. The Fujitsu CH offers an all-aluminum build that feels solid when you hold the laptop. There is little to no flex on the chassis, and even the keyboard deck feels solid. When it comes to opening the lid with one hand, that actually doesn’t happen even though the hinge is relatively smooth.

The laptop overall gives you a very premium feel and also peace of mind that it won’t get damaged easily if you are someone who likes to wrestle with their laptops. The design is quite minimal, with only the Fujitsu logo presented in the corner of the lid. The colors could have been better, though. We like the Mocha Brown color that we received, and there is another silver color variant if you go with the OLED variant. But some people did not like the Mocha-colored laptop when we carried it to different places.

In the end, Fujitsu has done a good job in the build quality and design department with the Fujitsu CH thin and light laptop. The weight and slimness of the laptop are a big selling point because it is very easy to carry around, and you can fit it in most bags and purses.

Fujitsu CH: Display And Speakers

The Fujitsu CH features a 13.3-inch IGZO panel that can sustain a peak brightness of 400 nits. While the panel is not very bright in direct sunlight, it definitely is bright enough for indoor usage, which we believe to be the use case for most people. While an aspect ratio of 16:10 would have been nice, the Fujitsu CH display is nevertheless good.

The panel is very color accurate and produces some stunning visuals when watching high-quality content. It has a resolution of 1920x1080px and supports a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut resulting in accurate colors. The display is glossy instead of matte; we think this a good decision because matte displays are known to be not very color accurate. So if you are someone who edits a lot of photos on their laptop or watches a lot of content, then the display of the Fujitsu CH won’t disappoint you.

When it comes to audio performance, the Fujitsu CH does deliver stereo speakers that get quite loud but lack a little bit of bass and clarity at the highest volumes. They are definitely better than your average Windows laptop speakers, but yes, the speakers could have been better. The headphone jack supports high-impedance headphones for audiophiles, and the USB Type-C ports can be used with portable DACs for a more immersed experience.

Fujitsu CH: Performance And Thermals

fujitsu ch performance

Our unit of the Fujitsu CH comes with the 11th Gen Intel i5-1135G7 processor paired with Intel Iris Xe graphics. This particular processor is quite capable of outputting sustained performance throughout various workloads. The processor can handle anything from light multitasking to heavy workflows, including extensive photo editing sessions, light video editing, and many browser tabs due to the GPU that comes with this laptop.

The limiting factor for our unit was the 8GB of DDR4 RAM, which goes to nearly 100% utilization quite often. This became a bottleneck when working on heavy tasks, especially when the laptop was away from the charger. The same also resulted in the fans spinning up quite often as the thin chassis of the Fujitsu CH is not very good with thermal management. The heat mainly comes out from the bottom of the laptop but also transfers to the keyboard deck in some cases. This can be a problem if you work in a non-air-conditioned environment and you like to keep your laptop on your lap while working.

We would not recommend gaming on the Fujitsu CH simply because it’s not designed for the same, but the Fujitsu CH is a no-slouch when it comes to general tasks like browsing the internet or working on large documents as the PCIe Gen3 M.2 SSD on the laptop is quite fast for most tasks. Even photo editing and light video editing can be easily managed on the Fujitsu CH. Overall, the Fujitsu CH is a great laptop for doing regular day-to-day work.

Fujitsu CH: Benchmarks

fujitsu ch benchmarks

Although synthetic benchmarks are rarely a measure of the actual performance of a device, some people like to associate their judgment with these benchmarks. We ran some tests on Geekbench 5 and Cinebench R23, along with CrystalDisk Mark, for the disk speeds. The results for the following tests are as below.

Fujitsu CH: Keyboard and Trackpad

The Fujitsu CH features a chicklet-style keyboard that has a good amount of travel and adequate spacing so that you can type comfortably for long hours. The function row also doubles up as a shortcut row with various easy-to-use shortcuts built into it. However, this makes accessing the function keys a bit difficult.

Also, weirdly enough, the function key is located on the left side of the spacebar instead of the usual right-side placement. To make it easier for you to type in darker environments Fujitsu has provided backlighting to the keyboard. There are also two levels of brightness you shuffle between.

The trackpad is quite accurate and supports windows precision drivers that, make it quite convenient to use. But the overall surface area of the trackpad could have been larger. There are separate physical buttons for the left and right clicks, but the surface area of the actual trackpad has decreased due to this.

Overall, the keyboard and trackpad provide a good experience while interacting with the laptop.

Fujitsu CH: Ports and Connectivity

When it comes to the port selection for the Fujitsu CH, you do have access to all the necessary ones despite it being a thin and light laptop.

On the Right Side:

fujitsu ch ports

  • 1 x Thunderbolt 4 Port with support for Power Delivery and Display Port ALT mode.
  • 1 x Active USB-A port with Anytime USB Charge support. This means that you can charge your peripherals through this USB port even when the laptop is turned off.

On the Left Side:

fujitsu ch specs

  • 1 x Thunderbolt 4 Port with support for Power Delivery and Display Port ALT mode.
  • 1 x HDMI Port with Display In and Out support. This basically means that while you can mirror the display of the Fujitsu CH to an external display, you can also use the display of the Fujitsu CH as a secondary display with your other devices by using the HDMI port.
  • 1 x 3.5mm Combo jack.

The Fujitsu CH also comes with face recognition support with Windows Hello to unlock your system very quickly without much hassle. The 1MP webcam is fine for your usual video calls, and the mics are also decent.

The Fujitsu CH does come with WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 support for seamless connectivity.

Fujitsu CH: Software

fujitsu ch software

The Fujitsu CH comes pre-installed with Windows 11 Home. The current version on our unit at the time of testing is Windows 11 version 22H2 with the build number 22621.674. The overall software experience has been quite smooth, with no major hiccups in the workflow. The wake-up and sleep transitions have been smooth, and the laptop wakes up from sleep pretty quickly.

You also get free lifetime access to Microsoft Office along with 2 years of warranty. So, the overall experience has been quite good in regard to the software experience on the Fujitsu CH.

Fujitsu CH: Battery

fujitsu ch battery

The 53 WHr battery inside the Fujitsu CH is capable of producing good battery life if you don’t use your laptop for any heavy tasks. Although with our usage, we managed to squeeze a maximum of 5 hours of battery life from the Fujitsu CH, which is almost half compared to the claims of 11 hours by Fujitsu. Our usage mostly included watching some YouTube videos and shuffling through multiple Chrome tabs. The included 65W charger does charge the laptop fairly quickly, and you can easily charge it with any charger that supports up to 100W of USB Power Delivery.

Fujitsu CH Review: Verdict

The Fujitsu CH 4ZR1C22927 is a great laptop for the price that it is being offered. We would recommend going with the 16GB RAM variant in order to stay clear of any issues regarding performance. Otherwise, the lightweight and sturdy design make it a very portable device for your daily office or personal usage. You can easily carry it around while traveling as it won’t drag you down as some other laptops do.

For the price of around INR 70,000 or nearly $849, the Fujitsu CH sits right up there with the likes of the Asus Vivobooks and the Lenovo Ideapads. Being the lightest laptop in this category, this is the biggest strength of the Fujitsu CH.

The performance and the display are quite commendable for a thin and light laptop. Although the battery life could have been better it’s not bad when compared to windows laptops. The Fujitsu CH can be a worthy choice for you if you are looking for a thin and light laptop that fulfills most usage criteria without breaking your back.
