Course Information

Embry-Riddle will host the women's championship on the Prestwick Course at the Plantation Bay Golf and Country Club in Ormond Beach, Florida. It marks the first time an SSC tournament has been played at Plantation Bay.

The Prestwick Course is a par 71 designed by Clifton, Ezell, & Clifton on Bermuda grass. SSC golfers will play from the course's Green Tees, which have a course rating of 69.6 and a slope rating of 135. The championship will play 2,890 yards on the front par 35 and 3,055 yards on the back par 36 for a total of 5,945 yards.

Fan Information

Parents and friends are welcome to follow players throughout the tournament, per NCAA guidelines. Spectators must remain on the cart path and may use carts only if medically required. Spectators who are walking must either stay on the cart paths or in the rough at least 50 yards away from players at all times.

Communication between spectators and players is prohibited and may result in a penalty to the player as it can be seen by a third party (fellow competitor or a coach from another team) as giving advice to the player.

The penalty for a player asking for and/or receiving advice from a spectator is two strokes under rule 8-1.

The definition of advice is "advice is any counsel or suggestion that could influence a player in determining his play, the choice of a club or the method of making a stroke."

SSC Tournament Quick Facts...
  • The tournament returns to a 54-hole format over three days after a temporary format in 2021 of 54-holes in two days.
  • 2021 marks the 23rd women's tournament for the conference....2020 was canceled due to COVID-19.
  • Lynn claimed the 2019 & 2021 championships, while Nova Southeastern went back to back in 2017 & 2018. Lynn looks to be the first school to claim three consecutive championships since NSU did so from 2010 to 2012.
  • Only six women have ended the 54-hole tournament under-par: Helen Kruezer, Lynn (-2, 2021), Kiira Riihjarvi, Tampa (-4, 2019), Matilda Wahren, Lynn (-1, 2019), Michelle Ruiz, NSU (-6, 2018), Tilda Larsson, Barry (-1, 2018), Nicole Ferre, Barry (-1, 2015).
  • The top three-round tournament team scores in SSC history are Nova Southeastern with a 17-over in 2018 at Osprey Point, followed by Lynn and Barry with 20-over and 21-over, respectively, in 2019 at Lake Jovita.
  • The top single-round score for a team in the tournament was Barry's 286 (-2) at RedTail in 2015 and Nova Southeastern's 286 (-2) at Osprey Point in 2018. They are the only under-par rounds by a team in tournament history.
  • Lynn's Camila Madariaga and Saint Leo's Francesca Santoni look to join a list of 28 other women who have two Top-5 finishes in the SSC Championship.
  • Rollins leads the pack with eight SSC titles, followed by NSU with six and FSC with four. Lynn has three titles and Barry has one.

Recent SSC Golf History

The SSC has dominated the national competition in women's golf by winning 18 of the last 21 NCAA National Championships since Division II began its own championship event in 2000. From 1996 to 1999, Division II and III competed in a combined championship. In 14 of the last 21 championships, SSC teams also finished runners-up. Lynn won back-to-back titles in 2013 and 2014. On 12 occasions, SSC teams have finished first and second. Most recently, Lynn and Barry accomplished this feat in 2014. Florida Tech took home the National Championship three years ago, the league's most recent and 22nd overall in women's golf. Before Florida Tech's title, Barry won it all in 2017. Lynn, the defending SSC champion, went back to back in 2013 and 2014 while also winning the championship in 1997. Nova Southeastern won four straight from 2009-12, while Rollins won five national titles from 2003 to 2016. Florida Southern claimed three-straight from 2000-02 and one in 2007.
