2 Old Storwize V7000 Licensing Model
VM7 - Controller & Expansion Based License Base Auto selected with purchased enclosures - Easy Tier & FlashCopy Included Customer concern about paying for features not required (SVC, GPFS, HPC) Storwize V5000 has option to select options. EV7 - External Virtualization License Base Select as many as required RM7 - Remote Mirroring License Base Sum number of VMx + EVx on each site. Which ever site has the fewest, this is how many RMx are required for each site. Ensure to remember to add RMx license later if purchasing additional VMx or EVx CP7 - Real-time Compression License Base Sum number of VMx + EVx If sum is less than 3, order corresponding number of CPx. Ensure to add additional CPx if additional VMx or EVx are purchased, up to max 3. If sum is greater than or equal to 3, order 3 x CPx Summary Incorrect Qty of RMx sometimes ordered at initial sale. Additional RMx often overlooked when adding additional VMx and/or EVx 3 Different measurements for license Qty VMx all Storwize Enclosures & EVx all external enclosures RMx, sum VMx & RMx at both sites, which ever has the fewer is the total for each site. There will be three license, each with feature codes. One license for Controller, Expansion and External Data Virtualisation. Each will have a mandatory base license. For advanced functions, there will be a choice. You can select the advanced functions individually OR select a Full Bundle. The Full bundle, entitles the user to all advanced functions available on the system, and will cost less than the sum of the those licenses. This full bundle will be the default pre-select, as we expect the majority of customers will select this, for the value for money it offers. We would expect almost all customers to be using Easy Tier and Flashcopy, and with the new assurance and performance of Real-time compression, we would again expect this to be sold in all but the most exceptional situation. Once selecting this qty of licenses, selecting the Full Bundle will financially look the obvious choice. Summary Licenses: Controller, Expansion, External Data Virtualization Advanced Functions are identically priced for Controller, Expansion & External Advanced function licenses, when selected, are required for all enclosures No capping No complexity 3 * Storwize V7000 Only 3
