GdS: Milan player ratings for Spezia win – Giroud to the rescue; several flops

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan secured three huge points in the Scudetto race last night as they managed to beat Spezia by two goals to one. Olivier Giroud scored the winner in the 89th minute with an acrobatic finish and was thus the hero.

The Rossoneri are now six points behind Napoli, who are yet to slip up, and that is indeed very important as it could have been eight or even nine points. Until the break, the aim will be to stay as close to Napoli as possible.

Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below) have analysed the performances of each player yesterday and they gave the man of the match award to Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman got a 7.5/10 for his late and stunning winner.

The next players in line are Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali at 7. They played one half each and both managed to get an assist. Tonali also had a great strike in the back of the net but it was ruled out for a foul in the build-up.

The other goalscorer, Theo Hernandez, got a 6.5 along with Junior Messias. Meanwhile, the likes of Rade Krunic, Rafael Leao and Charles De Ketelaere passed the test as they got a 6 from the newspapers.

Ciprian Tatarusanu, Pierre Kalulu, Matteo Gabbia, Fikayo Tomori, Brahim Diaz and Divock Origi (named the worst) disappointed at 5.5.

  1. These ratings make sense. Your ratings were far too generous yesterday and to the wrong people which makes me think do you even watch the games or understand football

    1. Indeed. E.g. the defense was really shaky yesteday (again btw!) and even a slightly better team would have capitalized from the errors Milan made many times. Nzola missed a sitter in the last seconds of the 1st half and it wasn’t the only one.
