Student from Morris Hills HS Makes U18 National Fistball Team
Morris Hills High School Student Kayley Moran recently earned a spot on the first ever U18 Girls National Fistball Team.
July 11, 2016 - Rockaway, NJ - Morris Hills High School Student Kayley Moran recently tried out for and earned a spot on the first ever U18 Girls National Fistball Team. Along with fellow Morris Hills student-athlete Christine Connelly, she will be competing at the Youth World Fistball Championships in Nürnberg-Eibach, Germany July 20-24, 2016.
Selected for the NJAC-American 1st Team for Track & Field representing Morris Hills, she tried out for the USA Fistball team at the urging of her grandfather who saw an article about the open tryouts.
When asked about being part of the team, the 17-year old resident of Hackettstown had this to say - “I enjoy meeting new people and have loved learning a new sport.” Ms. Moran also mentioned being surprised how heavy and hard the ball is.

What would she say to people who don’t know about Fistball? - “It’s fun!”
The team has been practicing at the Swim and Sport Club at 272 Emmans Road, Roxbury, NJ since early May to compete against U18 Girl’s teams from Austria, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Germany, India, Kenya, Switzerland and Togo.

With partial funding from the United States Fistball Association, the team has been pursuing corporate sponsorships, individual donations and apparel sales to help defer the extensive costs to the team members.
