Synology DX513

Expansion Unit for selected models of Synology NAS Series DiskStation Series. It offers a simple and fast solution to get extra space for your data (capacity up to 5 additional HDDs/SSDs) in case your existing storage capacity is full. 
The expansion unit connects to an existing storage using the supplied eSATA cable with custom-designed connectors that guarantee top-of-the-line reliability at both ends. The maximum cable throughput is 3 GB/s, which allows the hard drives in the connected Synology DX513 to operate as the internal ones of Synology DiskStation.

Synology DX513 can also be used as a standalone solution for local backup of the Synology DiskStation. If you create a separate volume, the Synology DX513 provides an excellent backup solution for local hard disks in the event of system failure.
