Lynn closes regular season with loss on Senior Day

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Graduate student Tradavis Thompson led all scorers with 26 points and six assists as the Lynn University men's basketball team fell to Embry-Riddle 94-85 on Senior Day, Saturday. Sophomore Nordin Kapic added 21 points and graduate Brad McCabe went 5-for-7 from deep for 19 points.
 
Lynn closes the regular season at 16-10 overall and 11-9 in the SSC. The Fighting Knights secured the No. 4 seed in the SSC Tournament and will host No. 5 seed Palm Beach Atlantic on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
 
The Fighting Knights honored Thompson, graduate Ben Gahlert, graduate Jamison Evans and junior Mason Schwaber in their final-regular season home game.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first half had nine lead changes while the Eagles never trailed in the second half
- Embry-Riddle outscored Lynn's bench 34-6
- The Eagles shot 53% (36-for-68) while the Fighting Knights shot 50% (30-for-60) from the field, while each team shot over 40% from beyond the arc
- McCabe's first three-pointer capped a 10-5 Lynn run to open the game
- The Eagles took their first lead at the 13:17 mark in the first half on a dunk to make the score 17-16
- Lynn regained the lead, 25-24, on sophomore Jalen Gilmore's traditional three-point play
- McCabe buried another three to put the Fighting Knights ahead, 35-34, with under six minutes left in the first half
- A steal and three gave Embry-Riddle its largest lead of the first half at seven points, 49-42, with 2:11 remaining
- Kapic's dunk and Thompsons layup closed the half with Lynn trailing, 49-46
- McCabe knocked down a three 13 seconds into the second half to tie the game at 49
- The Eagles followed with a 14-4 run and never trailed again in the game
- A 9-4 spurt brought the Fighting Knights within five, 67-62, as Thompson scored six points over the stretch
- Embry-Riddle went on an 11-3 run in a two-and-half-minute span to increase its lead to 17, 86-69, with 6:28 remaining in the second half
- The Fighting Knights responded with a 16-4 run
- Gahlert's three-pointer cut the deficit to single digits, 90-83, with 2:13 left
- A Thompson jumper brought Lynn within five with one minute remaining

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Thompson tied a season high with 26 points (also 12/19 vs. Barton and 1/27 at Barry)
- Kapic closed the season with 500 total points and a 20.0 points per game average
- McCabe has scored 19 points in back-to-back games
- Lynn has shot over 40% from three in each of the last three games
