Abstract

This paper analyzes the combined impact of FACTS devices, i.e. Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC)/Thyristor-Controlled Phase Shifter (TCPS) and Wind Turbine (WT) on power system network. In order to resolve load frequency task, therefore, mathematical modeling of 2-area Automatic Generation Control (AGC), WT and FACTS devices is required to make a combined model. The main purpose of this paper is to reduce overshoot (OS), Undershoot (US) and Settling Time (ST) of frequency and tie-line power responses. In addition, various combinations of these power compensations have been implemented and compared successfully on 2-area AGC. From the simulation results, it is realized that the combination of WT and SSSC/TCPS shows better outcomes as compared with individual cases. Moreover, OS, US and ST of load frequency and tie-line power responses have been improved appreciably.
