Abstract

The comparative study of morphology, composition, and transmittance of MgxZn1−xO films (0 ≤ x ≤ 30 at.%) obtained by spray pyrolysis using different Mg precursors, Mg acetate or Mg chloride, is presented. The transmittance of 80–90% is detected in both types of films. The films prepared with Mg acetate precursor are characterized by higher Mg contents estimated by EDS method. Their band gap varied from 3.22 to 4.00 eV with increasing Mg contents from 0 to 30 at.%. The films obtained with Mg chloride precursor are characterized by lower Mg contents and smaller band gap. The different film characteristics are analyzed and discussed.
