JANOS FLOCK REDUCTION – Part II

Bryan and Jano have come to the decision to have a major reduction of the JANOS Flock this year and are offering thirteen flock ewes at Carlisle. In addition the best shearling ewes and ewe lambs will also be on offer here today. All flock ewes and shearling ewes will be sold ‘running with the ram’ from the 1st August. Ram is YAR/23/611 YARBURGH Zeus purchased at Worcester 2023 for 1200 guineas. Zeus is a very good and well fleshed ram.

The JANOS Flock was established in 2013 by purchasing two ewe lambs from the Welshpool In-Lamb sale from the Thomas family. Those lambs and their offspring went on to breed successfully resulting in overall championships and female championships in several shows including the Royal Welsh, Three Counties and the Royal Highland Shows. We have also had numerous championships at Society sales at Carlisle, Worcester, NSA II and Welshpool.

Rakefoot Flock

Established in 1991 Rakefoot is one of the oldest flocks in the breed. Rakefoot Farm is a hard lake district hill farm where our focus has always been to produce stock with as little cost as possible that can go away and thrive on any system. The primary reason for having Berrichons is to use commercially on the bottom end of our Swaledale flock.

The lamb offered for sale today is by “Tregwynt Terry”. He was bought in 2019 and is still being used in the flock this year. He was bought in part for the good old bloodlines in him. WJC/99/005 was an old show ewe who has had a hand in a large number of successful sheep and flocks over the years.

Statesman Flock

The Statesman Flock was established in 2004 and has since established itself as one of the most successful flocks the breed has seen both in the show ring and the sale ring, having won the Reid Minty Shield (top show flock) six times. In 2023, I have decided to disperse the flock and this will be one of the last chances to purchase Statesman stock. Some of our proudest results include;
