The numbering system for yarns and fibres is based on the old French weight unit “denier”. The number indicates the robustness and the weight of the thread that is used. The entry 1680D indicates that a 9000 meter-long thread weighs 1680 grams. For a material with 900D, the thread weighs 900 grams. Articles with higher denier numbers consist of very robust materials, while others with lower values are attractive due to their lighter and finer fabrics.
Das Nummerierungssystem für Garne und Fasern geht auf die alte französische Gewichtseinheit Denier zurück. Die Zahl gibt Aufschluss über die Robustheit und das Gewicht des verwendeten Fadens. Die Angabe 1680D bedeutet, dass ein 9000 Meter langer Faden 1680 Gramm schwer ist. Bei einem Material mit 900D wiegt der Faden entsprechend 900 Gramm. In the production of our Eco series we use recycled PET, which helps protect the environment: used drinking bottles are recycled and cut into PET flakes instead of being burned. These flakes are then spun into yarn and later processed into fabric – the ecologically sound basis for our Eco series.
Bei der Produktion der Eco-Serien setzen wir auf recyceltes PET, das die Umwelt entlastet: Anstatt gebrauchte Getränkeflaschen zu verbrennen, werden diese recycelt und zu PET-Flakes geschnitten. Diese Flocken werden danach zu Garn gesponnen und später zu Stoff verarbeitet – die ökologisch sinnvolle Basis für unsere Eco-Serien.

REACH is the European regulation for registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals. As part of the SVHC list (Substances of Very High Concern), the materials processed are inspected for 209 problematic elements. This involves in particular substances that are carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction and persistently organic. Additional substances are added to the list every six months.

Currently, about 40 % of the DICOTA core product range is made of recycled material and each product gives a new life to 6 – 19 PET bottles. In the past 8 years, DICOTA has produced over 450 000 carrying solutions out of recycled PET. While doing so we have been able to purposefully reuse over 3.9 million PET bottles (0.5l). Step by step we are replacing the main material for all our bags with recycled alternatives, aiming for a 100 % eco-friendly assortment in the future. Plastic pollution is a global problem that affects both the environment as well as our health. Worldwide around 1 million PET bottles are sold every minute and only about 20 % of global plastic waste is recycled. Consistent recycling helps to conserve resources and prevents plastics from ending up in landfills or in the water cycle, where they need around 450 years to biodegrade. As a leading brand for premium carrying solutions, we are consciously aware of our social and ecological responsibility. Our product innovations made from regenerated plastic bottles are not only reliable and cost-effective, but at the same time they are friendly to the environment.
