Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Bowers Leads Terriers to 3-2 Overtime Win at UNH

DURHAM, N.H. - Sophomore Shane Bowers scored a shorthanded goal 3:06 into overtime to lift the Boston University men's ice hockey team to a 3-2 road victory over New Hampshire on Saturday evening at Whittemore Center.

Bowers also added BU's second goal – a power-play tally – and successfully screened the goalie on a goal that opened the scoring.

BU improves to 2-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in Hockey East play while the Wildcats fall to 1-5-2 with a 1-2-1 conference mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • BU scored a pair of power-play goals in the opening period and allowed one on the other end to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
  • Krys put a shot through traffic from the top of the left circle to open the scoring 5:55 into the contest.
  • UNH tied it up under three minutes later on a power-play tally by Ara Nazarian.
  • Bowers gave the visitors the lead back midway through the first on a man-up chance by knocking in a rebound at the right crease following a shot by freshman Joel Farabee
  • Three seconds after a BU power play expired in the middle period, UNH got an equalizer from the stick of Jackson Pierson on a 2-on-1 rush.
  • Special teams were on display once again in overtime as UNH got a man advantage just over two minutes into the extra session.
  • Junior Dante Fabbro cleared the puck along the left boards just out of the reach of a UNH player and Bowers raced to the loose puck before skating in through the right circle and roofing a puck short side to end the game.
