Women's Basketball Earns Key Road Win At Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. --  The Barry women's basketball team earned a key Sunshine State Conference road win at Florida Tech on Wednesday in the Clemente Center.

SUMMARY:

  • 1Q - Barry sprinted out to an 11-2 lead after the first 3:13. Chiara Fusari, Lauren Livingston and Audrey Jenning all hit three-pointers. But the Panthers surged back to tie the game at 12-12 on a pair of free throws by Kyandra Poitier with 3:36 remaining. Barry scored the last five points of the period, including a pair from the line for Aijah Palmore.  | Barry 25, Florida Tech 19
  • 2Q - A kayla Lindsey jumper game the Bucs a three point lead with 5:01 left in the half. Although that was the last fireld goal for the Bucs in the half, they still managed to out-score the Panthers 5-4 over the rest of the period. | Barry 36, Florida Tech 32
  • 3Q - Barry pushed the lead back to double figures with 7:11 left on a brace from Fusari at the line. But once again, the Panthers found some life, going on a 9-0 run that cut the lead to two.  | Barry 60, Florida Tech 55
  • 4Q - In the fourth, the opening minutes of the frame again belonged to the Buccaneers. A Sanaya Shrader layup with 7:37 left pushed the lead to 12, the biggest of the game for Barry. The Bucs maintained an 8-11 point lead the rest of the way, going back up by 12 on free throws from Fusari with 0:19 seconds left. NOTEWORTHY:

  • Fusari led the Bucs with 25 points, while Jennings chipped in 23. 
  • Lindsey and Palmore each had 10 points. For Palmore, who went 8-for-8 from the line, it was a season-high.
  • Lindsey added a team-high 12 rebounds for a double-double.  
  • Livingston, who scored seven, added a season-high eight assists.
  • Acampora led four Panthers in double figures with 18.
  • Although the Panthers out-shot Barry 46.8 percent to 36.9 percent, two long droughts plagued Florida Tech. They missed nine straight in the second quarter and seven in a row before Acampora's final basket.

ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs host arch-rival Lynn on Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce Day at Cesar Odio Court on Saturday, Jan. 27.
