MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Coach Heather Macy's Buccaneers were picked eighth in the Sunshine State Conference pre-season women's basketball poll.

Barry finished sixth in the league last season at 9-11 and was 14-15 overall. The Bucs face massive turnover this season, with Trinity Bosecker and Taylor Fowler the only returning starters with Chiara Fusari returning after missing half the season with injury. Along with Macy, assistant coach Josie Earnhardt is also new and the staff brought in 11 new players, mostly transfers.

Macy brought three starters from her Greensboro Pride squad that went 25-3 and won the USA South Conference regular-season and tournament titles. Audrey Jennings, who was second in scoring, was the conference player of the year, while Lauren Livingston, who led the conference in assists, was a second-team pick and Aijah Palmore was third in the league in rebounding.

The Bucs also welcome NCAA Division I transfer Britney Mapang, from Arkansas-Little Rock, Embry-Riddle import Rachel Murray, Newberry grad transfer Holly Davies and Mya Lewis from Lees-McRae. Junior college products guard Madison McFerrin and post Sanaya Shrader, along with freshmen Kayla Lindsey and Andreonia Doe complete the class and give the Bucs a long, deep bench heading into the season.

Barry opens the season hosting the Sunshine State Conference/Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament Nov. 10-11, as they and the Lynn Knights take on Shorter and Christian Brothers from the GSC.
