Looks like @CoolKit-Technologies = Shenzhen Cool House Technology Co., Ltd. TI CC-253X is little out of date comparing with all EFR32 (and EM35X) so no interest but i have 2 as reference. My LIDL Zigbee LED stripe controller (25€) is having one tuya ZSS3L that only having 768 KB flash but its at least have the antenna tuning implanted if counting components FCCID.IO is smaller is shielded and have nice layout. And my IKEA Silverglans LED derive is having the new Silabs module "Zingo" with 1024 KB flash and is having as reference design the complete RF and antenna tuning components. Shall i going for tuya or the Silabs / IKEA Zingo as the next coordinator ? |

The problem is that i like the TI CC-2538 with PA :-(( So still only 3 component from the chip to the antenna ans only one layer PCB for one 20 dBm device = missing 2 matching components and the antenna tuning so its looks like one copy of the SM-011 with USB chip instead of the ESP8266 |

I like the CC-2538 but it was not so easy getting it in EU and then i was doing the "Billy EZSP" so no need of it in my systems. I preferring the integrated PA then its no problems with the hardware connections its transparent and no need for doing firmware patching for getting it working and its the same for all firmware and not one mess like other have being doing. But the dBm is little hysterical then building on god system. If you is only having sleeping end devices and no routers yes its very good but if you you having good routers your mesh is working better having all sleeping end device connected to the routers and not the the coordinator. Rasp/CornBee is having one problem that all sleeping end devices like being connected to the coordinator and not to routers in the mesh that can being bad if the router part of the coordinator is not working so well (EEZSP ala "Sonoff bug" and Rasp/CornBee). I have finding one very interesting comments from our code master in the last sense if this posting: #701 (comment) On the other hand "cheesiness ZB3" with CC-253X chips is normally having very bad power output and bad antennas and is making the end devices not liking being connected to then => |

I wonder if the SM-011 ships with a pre-flashed serial capable boot-loader (Gecko Bootloader or other) out-of-the-box? I sent that specific question to developer@coolkit.cn and sales@coolkit.cn but not got a reply as of yet. That is, wondering if it can be put into a bootloader mode and from there flash the application firmware without a debug adapter? By the way, I have seen Chinese resellers refer to SWD as "download port" before, and they then sometimes also refer to an SWD connector converter adapter for the programmer for is as "download cable/connector" or "downloader cable/connector". What you might more commonly call a debug adapter kit. |

Did you not get the version of the module that came with a pre-soldered IPEX connector? From one of the pictures they had posted on Aliexpress it looks they offered two versions of it as options with one with pre-soldered u.FL SMC for IPX/IPEX connector and one without?

I'm talking to the store to see, they at first said no, I asked what about what is show in the picture they have not responded. from the looks of it, you'd have to rotate the smd resister(?) 90 degrees and then add an antenna port. |

As on Hedda photo 90° the "smd component" (then being diplomatic if its one resistor, capacitor or one coil its not important) and DON'T BURN YOUR FINGERS !!!! Testing if you getting some output the booting on the comport with 115200 without soft and hardware flow control. Edit: You can also souldring one antenna directly if you is having one that is in good format but its being little DIY like then but should working OK but much better with real antenna port connection !! |

Yes that is what it looks to me too. That will disconnect PCB circuit board antenna and instead redirect to solder points for an uFL SMT antenna connector for IPEX4?

I haven't been able to hook up my j-link to this. (v2 board will have some debug headers). I am pretty sure the module's bootloader is requiring signed fw. an unsigned fw did not work via the bootloader. successfully got the fw available for the Sonoff ZBBridge loaded via gecko bootloaded accessed via the esp32. The WT32-ETH01 does not come without headers. which is a pain. anyone able to create a custom board with ethernet and an ep32 module? 🤣 |

The security certificate is stored in the userdata and the token (on gen 2 it can being in the hardware security storages) is used if is present by the bootloader. Garry from Austria im 110% shure can do but i think hi dont have time for doing one free version for the moment but how knows. One "custom WT32-ETH01 "with one EFR32 onboard with USB-Serial and power and buck converter wold doing high scores in the higher end of coordinators !!! The nearest i have finding is the tuya bridge that LIDL and co is using but the wifi processor (thats doing the eth) is badly supported for the moment if not putting one WT32-ETH01 inside of it. |

If you plan on making many of them to sell then recommend try contact Wireless Tag and others to ask if they make you a custom board. Does not have to be completely from scratch if companies like Wireless Tag or others who make boards could only slightly modify their existing design. Also suggest that you look at the TTGO POE Board by LILYGO for the added value of PoE (Power over Ethernet) as still only ~ $16 US: http://www.lilygo.cn/prod_view.aspx?TypeId=50033&Id=1307 LILYGO TTGO Internet-POE V1.0 has ESP32 WROOM 32 board + LAN8720A Ethernet chip +Si3404 power management chip (and looks to use galvanic isolation design) + an TF SD card slot for additional storage or backups. I got impatient and ripped a SM-011 off a Sonoff Bridge. to try with my second version pcb.... I flashed with my J-link a new bootloader and then successfully flashed newly compiled 6.8.2.0 FW over serial. Screen.Recording.2021-01-17.at.12.00.50.PM.MOV |

Still, if you make a device with the hardware to use WiFi then some people will unfortunately use WiFi if the option to do so os available :( If thinking of future-proofing it for all end-users too, it would make more sense from a design decision to optimize for less interference ;) |

I think the antenna positioning is pretty optimized (not 100% but nearly) and the main thing with the board is the ethernet with Zigbee and option for BL and WiFi. I think many user can using the BI but not the Wifi then having real ethernetwork on the board and the BI is not so aggressive (its using the same frequenzes but is using "jumping" channels) to the zigbee that the wifi is so in my eyes its one great combination. Perhaps some pins with 5V, 3.3V, GND and GPIOs to the ESP32 for RF433Mhz to can being good have on the version 3 :-)) And of course one small buckis like this !! |

@digiblur since tube0013's project is based on an ESP32 you could almost certainly port almost any ESP32 or ESP8266 firmware to it. I follow your blog so believe that you are probably aware of most but there are many such projects with bridge/gateway functions, e.g.

Waiting on Ali order to test this one. Also contemplating moving the bsl button to a gpio pin.
Wireless-tag has sold me some WT32-E01's with no headers as well. Just have to wait on their next production run to be complete at the end of Feb. Goal is to use a small external antenna for zigbee with both this and the efr32 variant similar to the one on the zzh. |

Its looks that the WT32-E01 can being "pad soldered" if coming without pins mounted. Also if you prefer using external antennas and can taking some place away from the PCB for mounting space of it you is getting it open for more compact casing design. @digiblur Some very good devs is working on implanting Z2M for EZSP !! This discussion is beginning to be real hard(ware)porno ;-( |

Not at the levels I'm buying so far. The RF-star cc2652p2 is a much better value in bulk. Also the EFR32MG series 2 gets hit with a tariff here in the States so adds another 10% |

Really? I know they are fabless but still suprising as Silicon Labs has their headquarters in the United States (Austin, Texas). That is still a much lower tariff then when a non-company orders components from the United States to the European Union. |

I managed to flash a USB adapter based on ZYZBP008/SM-011 V1.0. They seemed to have changed the PCB to black, which looks better IMHO anyways ;)
The adapter uses a CP2102, unfortunately, it seems that RTS/CTS is not hooked up to the module, so no hardware flow control. Also none of the available GPIO/UART modem pins is connected. Shorting the PA00 pad to GND (accessible on the back) allows to enter the bootloader (baud rate 115200). However, I wasn't able to upload a firmware from grobasoz/zigbee-firmware. Downloading works, but at the end the final ACK is missing and the bootloader goes back to the menu. Starting the firmware won't work. I think @tube0013 is right, this bootloader requires signed fw. I then was able to flash it using a Wireless Start Kit Mainboard. I hooked up the CORTEX debug port to the SWD/SCK, GND, VCC and RST pads on the USB adapter. A few things need to be setup right:

I then flashed the boot loader firmware and was able to load firmware from grobasoz/zigbee-firmware. I was hoping this would be a bit more straight forward. But this really doesn't make the USB adapter a very "accessible" USB attached EFR32MG21 adapter for zigpy... |

So my requested signed firmware's for Sonoff is working on more devices then the Sonoff. Great !!! The funny thing was that Sonoff was not liking to helping but the "cooker" was doing it so very likely hi is not from the same company but still have the certificate for signing the firmware :-)) |

What I did notice is that since using this device as coordinator switching on my Philips Hue lamp is significantly slower (~1s from button press). I did use the virtual COM of the Wireless Development Board before, with which commands were really basically instant! RSSI values look similar, and I see the behavior with both USB adapters (and hence with the two different firmwares). Any idea where that could come from? I am using Home Assistant ZHA integration. I noticed that with the USB those adapter I have a "Silicon Labs EZSP" device, which I don't have when using the Wireless Development Board... |

Hmm, after pairing from scratch the light now reacts instantly. I did use bellows backup/restore function, not sure if the changed MAC of the coordinator caused that lamp to be confused somehow. |

@tube0013 I tried to compile a firmware myself, but did not succeed so far. The build runs fine, but the file is significantly larger (219K) and I am not able to flash it (aborts midway during flashing). Did you had to configure anything special (besides pins)? |

I think Gary have compiled the Sonoff firmware with IAR and you is likely have doing it with GCC that is making little larger firmware (not so good optimized as the IAR ones). If the problem is the flashing its normally hardware (cables / probe) problems or need doing one chip erases and start flashing the boottloader on the chip and then the s37 firmware file. I have not cooking one working firmware for SM-011 but for tuya MG21 modules and it working OK with standard setting (MG1 device can needing dc-dc being pass thru enabled) and also flashing is working without problems (after dumping the LIDL LED Stripe controller so can going back to step one). |

The last from Sonoff is that the firmware for the ZgbeeBridge (SM-011 module) is signed and the one for the USB dongle is the same but not signed so its opening for some synergies effects for our hard(ware) cookers :-)) They have released one 6.7.9 that have fixed some false data setting that was doing some problem in the firmware but is one "real" 6.7.8.0. |

Soff EZSP 6.10.1.0 Router 110% untested !! Also one EZSP 6.10.0.0 NCP with Sonoff config (also untested) with some more fixes that can helping "Sonoff ZBB problems". All is unsigned files and is only working on devices that have unlocked bootloader (SWD flashed devices). |

If some one like to knowing more way Sonoff ZBB is having so much problem (not only the SM-011 module is bad) shall reading this KB: AN1017: Zigbee® and Thread Coexistence with Wi-Fi. The Zigbee module can handle PTA if its being implanted in the EZSP firmware (and its having enough GPIO for handing that hardware) but i dont knowing if the ESP32 can implanting it. I being little astonish that my X-production system was / is working so well with one RaspBee on one PI Zero that is using 2.4 Ghz WiFi all the time and is not using PTA or other Technic in hard or software for helping the coexistent on the 2.4 Ghz band but i think its my IKEA outlets that was doing it that was added very early in the system. But Silabs is having some good examples and is recommending having some good routers in the range so sleeping end devices can using routers with full power then communicating with the coordinator that is having WiFi in the near / on the same PCB for not getting problems with the end devices is being killed of the WiFi and also explaining the problematic with rerouting then having interment interference in the network. So @Hedda is have very right in one part that Zigbee and WiFi is not one good combination if not implanting coexistent Technic in the hardware. |

The ZT Series Module on the second picture is not on Silabs chip its somthing new cheep they have cooking. The ZS3L is one very nice module that i is using as one MG21 coordinator with EZSP 6.10 and looks being well made and is being calibrated from the factory (have CTune set in the chip). My impression its preforms in the same class as the original Silabs module IKEA is using. |

tuya is having 2 "normal" LED strips controller the first is the squarer one (as heddas last picture) and one rounded one but its looks the LIDL is one custom build one that have space on the PCB for one switch (but not mounted). MG1P/B modules is not having good PWM for RGB + + but the MG13 shall being OK but the MG21 shall being the best. Only needing one good SWD/J-Tag probe :-)) PS: The LIDL LED strips controller was not debug locked so its easy dumping the original firmware. |

Hello every one, this is a rather old thread and my question is not really related to the "SM-011 V1.0" module but this is the most complete thread with a lot of details on silicon labs modules so I'm here asking for your help. I need help identifying the next zigbee module: I know for a fact that it is a Silicon Labs module based on the EFR32MG21 SoC. I thought it was a "SM-011 V1.0" but if you see the image and count the module pins, there are 13 on each side as opposed to the 12 on each side for the "SM-011 V1.0", also, the label doesn't say "SM-011 V1.0" like all the modules you are talking about here. I hope someone knows what module is this. Thanks! |

@m4l490n while only a guess I would estimate it is practically impossible to say anything for sure without much more detail. Do you have any more specific information about the actual hardware device/appliance/board that it is located in/on? Sometimes you can find a lot of information in the FCC Test Report(s) database if they registered it by the model number: https://www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid Also, can you maybe remove the electromagnetic shielding cover if there are no pictures without the cover on FCC? |

That picture is from the GL-X300B-BLE / GL-X300B-GPS Datasheet from GL.INET website, and corresponds to the GL-X300B-BLE model which is out of stock. It turns out that the GL-X300B-GPS model, which is the only one I could lay my hands on, doesn't have the module

The USB dongle/adapter, WiFi-gateway, all use this "SM-011 V1.0" module which can also be purchased separately.
