FORMATION OF SOIL soil is a natural resource The soil we see today is formed by prolonged processes like weathering of rocks and decomposition of organic matter It is estimated that more than a thousand years is required for the formation of a inch thick layer of soil The factors influencing soil formation are climate, topography, plants , animals parent rock and time.


THE USES OF SOIL


CONTINUTION Soil is our support system. Soil is used for cultivation. The plants that are grown in soil can be used for food, clothing. Recreation, medicines, aesthetics etc. The soil is an important part of the building process. Clay soil is used in making pottery. Soil is used in wastewater treatment plants. Soil is used for making bricks. Soil is used for various religious purposes. Ceramic articles are made by using clay soil. Plants absorb vital nutrients from the soil for growth and development.


CAUSES OF SOIL POLLUTION Presence of toxic chemicals such as pollutants and contaminants in soil. This is water pollution Non degradable materials like plastic causes soil pollution Deforestation Overuse of chemical fertilizers that alter the structure of soil Use of agricultural land for non - agricultural purposes Overgrazing etc…
