This week is counselor appreciation week!  We are so grateful to have Ms. Rose’s support and dedication to our community.  If you see her, please be sure to share a kind message with her! 

ELPAC Testing (English Language Proficiency Assessment for California) begins this week for students who are identified as English Learners. Please be sure to send your student to school with an encouraging message- because they’ve got this! :) See Sunday message or ask your child’s teacher about their specific testing dates.

Don’t forget to buy tickets to our Friendship Dance (starting Monday). Thank you, PTA!

We had a wonderful time participating in the Great Kindness Challenge & celebrating Kindness Week with special Finney activities and traditions. Thank you so much to our Kindness Week committee and volunteers for your time & hard work! 

This week, our upper graders will be participating in an optional Speech Contest! More information to come from their classroom teachers.

We hope to see you at our coffee chat! We will be discussing many important topics (and getting your input). Additionally, we will have a section titled “Becoming Bulldogs,” where Mrs. Bruder (our new psychologist) and myself share more information about us and our time at Finney becoming Bulldogs.
Important reminder: All ELAC/Coffee chats will be translated into Spanish.

Good afternoon, Finney Families!
We are looking forward to another great week at Finney (especially because it’s Kindness Week)!

This week, we are participating in the Great Kindness Challenge. This year’s theme is Create Kindness.

Students and classes will participate in kindness challenges, have the opportunity to participate in daily kindness stations, read books and see videos with inspiring stories of kindness, and showcase kindness/school pride with a spirit week! At the end of the week, we will take a group photograph. Please see below for Kindness Stations & Spirit Day details.

On Friday, we will be having our Finney Spelling Bee. If your student advanced to the school spelling bee, a flyer with information was sent home (and information will be shared in the Sunday Principal’s message). Congratulations to all of our participants- we are so proud of your effort!

During the week of January 22, we will be celebrating Kindness Week and participating in the Great Kindness Challenge! Part of Kindness Week includes having kindness stations/activities for students to participate in at recess. If you are interested in volunteering at a kindness station/activity, please let your child’s teacher know. More detailed information to come.

School is Safe for All: January Edition
Finney is more than a school, we are a true community- and our community values safety. One way community members can keep our community safe is through the use of WeTip. WeTip lets staff, students, and community members report concerns anonymously. Safety concerns and any situation that raises suspicion can be reported quickly and easily from the WeTip tab on our CVESD Finney website (click here) or through a phone call/text message.

Happy New Year! We hope you had a fun, restful Winter Break. :)

Students will return to school tomorrow for a minimum day. We can’t wait to see you all!

On Friday, students will attend Bulldog expectations assemblies. To kick off the quarter, we will revisit how we can best showcase our core values of being kind, safe, and responsible at school. Go Bulldogs!

Good evening, Finney Bulldogs!

It’s going to be another great week! We have many fun events happening this week.

On Monday, we have a School Site Council meeting. The main topic & action item is our School Plan for Student Achievement. The meeting will occur in person with a virtual option. Please see the Sunday message for the link.

Wednesday, we will have our monthly Fire Drill. Safety is a top priority at Finney. These required practices help ensure our students, staff, and community will know what to do in the event of a fire/evacuation.

Our APEX Fun Run and PTA Winder Wonderland Festival are this Thursday! Please see the attached flyers with more information.

If you are able to volunteer for the Fun Run, please reach out to our PTA President, Mrs. Claudia Alanis (cjalanis67@gmail.com) with your availability. As a reminder, all visitors and volunteers must sign in to the front office Raptor system.

On Friday, we will be celebrating some of our Bulldogs at the Quarter 2 Awards Assembly. 4th-6th grade awards will begin at 8:00 am and Kinder-3rd grade awards will begin at 8:45 am. Please be sure to sign into the Raptor system prior to entering campus or the auditorium for the ceremony. We appreciate your support with our sign in protocol, as safety is a top priority at Finney. Our toy drive shopping day will also be on Friday from 1:00-2:30. Please see flyer below.

School is Safe For All: December Edition
Safety is a top priority at Finney. One way we can promote safety at Finney is through proactive systems and procedures that allow us to know who is on our campus. Our Raptor system is in the front office. Visitors and volunteers must sign in when entering campus during school hours. Please be sure to wear the sticker badge given to you. You will notice our staff members also wear badges around campus. Thank you for keeping our community safe!

Please welcome Ms. Rachel Scott, Acting Principal at Finney! Ms. Scott joins us most recently from Salt Creek where she was the Associate Principal. Prior to that she taught Special Education for multiple years in CVESD. We are excited to welcome her to Finney!

Join Ms. Scott and Mr. Latoni as they go over our School Plan for Student Achievement. This plan outlines how we will improve our student achievement, chronic absenteeism, and suspension rate. We welcome any and all suggestions!

PTA Winter Wonderland Bazaar Thursday, December 7 4p – 6p!

BREAKFAST & SNACKS: FREE breakfast is available for all students from 7:15-7:40. Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack from home to eat at morning recess. Students may NOT share food at school.
